Cost for Metra dash kit, double din head unit, and rearview camera?

I am curious if anyone has had this stuff installed by a car audio company? If so, did everything work when they were done? Any reason to take the car back after the install? Can anyone share about what it cost for everything including labor to have the Metra kit, new double din head unit w/ rearview camera installed?

I know prices can vary on the head unit but if someone could give me an idea of cost using an average priced head unit? I'm hoping I could keep the cost under $1,000 for everything installed. I really would prefer the Scosche unit but with all of the headaches people have had I think the Metra kit would be the best way to go.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Well it's not my favorite dash kit but it won't turn my stomach or anything. I want to upgrade my head unit and have a rearview camera and the Metra kit seems to be the best way to go. Or course I am always open to others opinions and advice.

The full Metra kit is harder to install than the Scosche. I have tried both, but could never get the Metra kit to install correctly. The Scosche kit worked better for me, and I never had any of the issues that others have mentioned.

The stereo installer said they have installed many of the Metra dash kits and have only had a problem with one of them. From the ones I've seen the installs look pretty clean so maybe the design has gotten better or the installer did some extra work to improve the install quality?

I know there has been issues with the Metra and the Scosche kits but from the research I've done the Metra kits seem to have a lot less problems. I'm curious of anyone has installed the Alpine dash kit and how well it worked? I'm thinking this is just a Scosche made dash kit with an Alpine name tag on it but I don't know for sure.

Just got everything quoted at best Buy. I was able to find a new Metra kit on ebay for $140

Pioneer headunit I am looking at is $250
Installation/parts is $330
Rear cam is another $125
and install for cam is $99

$844 total

You can get cams WAY cheaper than that. Look at Sonicelectronix or on Amazon. I got mine on Amazon for around $35.

Here is a link to the thread where I installed mine.

Under $1K is pretty good. Did Best buy actually do the install of the Metra kit?

That price did seem a little high on the camera.

Thanks for the info!
