Ginger's top after 303 fabric guard.

Since I am sure my convertible rub mark problem is fixed ( problem http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142513 My fix after dealership FAIL http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153498), I decided to treat my top with some 303 fabric guard. I followed the directions after her bath last week and went on my way. I had completely forgotten about it until it was time for this weeks bath. the way the water just ran off the top looked so cool, so i grabbed some video. This was after it was already washed. It looked even cooler the first time the water hit the dry top, you couldn't even tell it had gotten wet!

Good stuff!

For all those planning to use, make sure to give a full 6hrs+ curing time (in sun) longer in shade/humidity... I got caught in a VERY light rain 5hrs after applying it at night, (thinkin I might have to re-apply...)

Did you just give it one good coat or two? Do you have one of the Adams fire hose nozzles? The water spray in your vid looks good.

The tops are made to be exposed to weather for the life of the vehicle so they're not made of delicate material. This doesn't mean you should abuse them, but you don't likely need to be anxious, apply protectant, worry about your towel, etc. Won't hurt, but it's pretty unnecessary.

Owned a 4th gen with a black top for 7.5 years. The top looked brand new at the end and though I babied that car more than my children, I did absolutely nothing special to the top. I washed my car with Zaino products using terrycloth, and let the top airdry. Used a lintbrush when needed to remove the "sweater" my cat liked to put on it , and that was it.

Easy peasy.

We have crappy tops and are allready showing sever wear marks after a couple months of use. We have to do everything we can to help them stay looking good.

I had a 95 convertible Z28 and that top was perfect for years with ZERO maintenance.

Just one coat. I only used half the bottle. I might use the rest if I see it needs it.
I used to always buy the cheap Wally world $5 nozzles, but they would only last a few months. I then decided to get one of high dollar Wally world nozzles and I LOVE IT! It has been perfect. It doesn't seize up on the hose threads, sprays perfect, has adjustable spray nozzle, water pressure and water volume.

Here it is. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Orbit-XL-S...ozzle/16332352

I'm sure the Adam's ones are great but $75 for a nozzle is ridiculous!

The company I believe is 303Products. They have a web site and a list of retailers.

I've been using 303 for 6 years on my last 3 verts. Two light coats in the fall and I'm good through the New England winters.

Has anyone used this on their cloth seats? I just put it on my top this morning and was wondering if on the seats would be a good idea too.

I used 303 the last time but wasn't all that impressed. My boss has a vert BMW and they sell a BMW protectorant that he uses and is very happy with. Same price as 303 about $30 so I'm going to give it a shot in the next month or so. I already bought the stuff, but the new top was just installed so I'll wait closer to fall to apply.

I paid $15 for the 303 at the ACE hardware.

I'm surprised you got away with only using 1/2 a bottle. I did my original top and my new top after it got replaced and both times I used almost the entire bottle. I have a beige top so it was real easy to see where the stuff was applied so that may be the difference in how much I used. Great stuff though, it's worth it.
