Cobalt SS Sedan: Dead
Cobalt SS Sedan: Dead
Thanks to a little investigative journalism, the folks over at Autoblog have uncovered that General Motors will cut the Cobalt SS Sedan from its product lineup for 2010. A sad day indeed. The discovery came about due to GM hosting its Order and Reference Guides online. Look for the Cobalt and noticeably absent is the SS Sedan. Chevy will, however, continue to bring seven Cobalt models to market including the Base Coupe, LS Coupe, LT Coupe, Base Sedan, LS Sedan and LT Sedan. Oh… and don’t get too worried… the SS Coupe has been spared the axe. |

Probably killed it because it wasn't selling as much as the ricebait coupe. Makes sense.. Now if we can just get the G8 thrown into Oshawa and turn that plant into Zeta-land.

Wasn't it always a plan to replace it with the Cruze?

They've waffled on a Cruze SS. The Cruze definitely replaces the Cobalt but they wouldn't commit to an SS version. In fact, they hinted against it. Shortly thereafter GMPD shut down.
You'll likely get a hot Cruze at some point, but I wouldn't put money on it being an SS spec. Plus Cruze's are supposed to start closer to 18+k even after discounting so that would put a true SS closer to 27-28 which may be hard to stomach. |

If it runs the nurburing as quick or quicker than the cobalt SS. It might be well worth it. |

Wow, unfortunate. Considering 2010 is the last year for Cobalt (supposedly) I can understand it - kind of. But the SS was really making a good name for itself in it's segment.

Sorry for double post- but just read more and realized, is this death of the ecotec LNF engine? Solstice/Sky/HHR/Cobalt all dead.
