ZL1 M6 Normal Transmission Temp

I just took delivery of my ZL1 (6-speed manual). On the way home, about 70 miles of interstate, I noticed the transmission temperature gauge didn't move from 100 (the minimum temp).

It was only about 29 degrees outside, but I would have still expected the transmission temps to exceed 100 degrees.

I hoping it's normal, but I'm guessing it's not. The next best scenario would be a faulty sensor. In the back of my mind though, I'm wondering if somebody forgot to add the fluid to the transmission.

What do you guys think?

The ZL1 has a very aggressive transmission cooler that is a separate circuit from the radiator. It includes a duct underneath that increases airflow through this heat exchanger even more than the SS's design.

So if you were traveling at highway speeds for an extended period of time at 29º ambient, with no stops, accelerations or aggressive cornering that might cause the eLSD to generate heat...it wouldn't surprise me to not see over 100º temps.

What was your coolant and oil temps doing? I suspect rarely going beyond 190?

Yes that is normal with the temps here today. When it gets up to 50-60 you will see it come off the peg some. Maybe 125 or so.

Welcome to the ZL1 family.

Maybe my reading comprehension isn't as good as yours, but I certainly don't see how anyone would infer that I'm complaining.

I was simply being cautious and using the forum for one of its intended purposes.

I'll post some late this evening after I get a chance to wash it. It still has dirt on it from the car carrier ride.

I know, pretty awesome, isn't it? Highest I've seen mine is 125 after a series of passes.

When I bought and drove mine home on Saturday the temp here was in the mid 50's and I checked my trans temp and it was just slightly above the minimum 100 readout, like maybe 110-ish. The trans coolers are really good on these 6th gens.
