Thanks everyone. Sounds like more exciting times for auto enthusiasts. I'm all set to be in Detroit January 13 for the C7 unveiling and another trip to the Heritage Center.

Janet, I'm glad you mention this vehicle in this context.

An '87 GN had 330 lb-ft of torque, and weighed about 3450 lb. Curb (with options).
An '87 GNX had 360 lb-ft of torque, and weighed about 3500.

The new LT1 has 450 lb-ft (25% more than a GNX!). Placed in an Alpha-based Camaro, that will likely weigh 3600 lb or so, it will make for a very lively "driver"...and perhaps your new "all-time favorite"!

BTW, I'm the original owner (still) of an '87 T-Type Turbo (the "undercover" GN).

Also BTW, I toured the Heritage Center during the annual festivities known as the Woodward Dream Cruise in August...a "must-see" for anyone who has the opportunity!

I have been listening to turbo V6 videos..... NOT a big fan of the sound. If we ever do lose the V8's it will be a very sad day.

And from a friend who worked at Powertrain many long years ago......................................those were severely under rated.

Same friend snagged me a Stage II chip. NICE!!!!! I think Stage III required Avition fuel and Stage IV took off the 125 mph speed limiter..................or so I think I remember being told at the time. Or maybe it was a Stage 1 chip and...................oh well you get the point.

Power is power...And it sounds as though they pulled some mass out of the engine block of the LT1...there may not be much displacement left. Maybe. ..

I hate to say it.....but the gtr doesn't sound horrible...certainly no ZL1...but not too whiney...

That all said...I think I might like to be rendered deaf if we ever lose the V8s. :(

You are right.... some car's sound decent with the "F1 " sound. The LFA had me . I just don't want my Camaro to EVER sound like that! Give me the GROWL!

I agree.

I like to feel the bridge shake as I rev beneath an underpass...
