Rear Seat Removal
I am trying to remove my rear seat to start my winter project of installing my leather covers.
The bottom cushion was simple, pull up and remove. The back part is giving me tons of trouble. I know you have to pull back the spring loaded retainer clip back and then pull up on the seat. it doesnt matter which position i have the seat back, all the way down, all the way up, 45 degrees, etc i cannot get the seat to pop up off that bracket. Do any of the pins need to be removed or something. Anybody can help it would be useful. Thanks,

Last time i messed with mine, I noticed 2 bolts on each corner that allowed the backrest of the seat to pivot. I would check there.

Yeah, i see the bolts, but do they need to come out? I figured the entire seat pops out from the top of those grooves without removing any bolts.
i could be wrong.

3rd and 4th pics show you how to remove the back rest. If I remember correctly, you may have to lift up on the back rest just a bit to get it to come out . That's with the back rest in the down position.

I am about to just get out the impact and take the bolts out and remove the entire assembly.

It's a big balancing act of tilting correctly and having the black clip aligned so that it comes out. Once you get one side out, just move it a bit down so that it doesn't hook back in when you try to remove the other side. |

Update:
i unbolted the entire assembly. The black plastic is completely turned on both sides and keeping the seat from coming apart from the frame. Now i can remove the seat from the frame in my house and bolt the frame back in.

Takes 1 minute to pull the entire back seat out. Alone... |

Usually that is the case. After removing the assembly and placing it on a bench out of the car it took another 10-15 minutes to separate the seat from the main frame. The passenger side came right out in 2 seconds, but the drivers side still would not. I even made sure the plastic bushing was not in the way. For whatever reason the drivers side tolerances are way too tight. I had to use some pliers, pick tools and a few small pry bars to get that side to finally come out. No way it would have come out in the car.
Usually you just pull back the spring locks and pull up and it comes right up, but mine did not. Could have been temperature related as it was maybe only 25 degrees inside the car.
