I drove past the Cruze plant a week ago. Staging lot on the east side of the plant was pretty full.
As far as the Camaro, I feel prices will need to come down to move product.
A lot.

Yep, GM sales & marketing likes the 6th gen so much, they priced them so they could keep them.

I hope they started with laying off the stylists who designed the 6th gen. Too bad the workers are going to suffer for managements poor decisions on the price and appearance.

I've been saying how that the lots near me haven't been moving the new Camaros. I'm sorry that now people are getting laid off.

Beat me to it.

Low labor wages for less than half of what you would pay an American worker.

It goes hand in hand... you want American jobs, then expect American prices on your American cars.

If you would some great prices on some great cars, then don't expect production here in the US.

Sad the way it works, but hey...

I used to watch Boeing do this to workers in the great Northwest in the 90s, until employees began collective bargaining against "seasonal layoffs". Boeing tried to rehire one year and no one showed up, they got schooled quickly not to screw your employees. GM rolled in nearly $10B in 2015 net profits. What's 2,000 workers cost with P&E costs for 3 months? $100 Million? Doesn't even take into account the public outcry or the irreparable employee employer engagement damage. Ironically, likely no one will care so there's actually no real risk to GM. While unethical, it's certainly not illegal. Unfortunately, most business environments are unable to appreciate ethical and moral business practices displayed by truely amazing successful companies like Virgin, Marriott, Disney, Google and Facebook to name a few.

Jobs will continue to shift offshore overseas until the corporate benefit in doing so is no longer viable or until until there is a greater carrot within the borders of the USA. If anyone is actually serious about wanting to make a difference, then our only single option is to let our hard earned money speak for us, buy American.

6th Gens are available new off the lot for about the same price (less in many cases) than when the 5th Gen was released, model by model. If you want to get superficially wrapped up in "MSRP" and believe the false media hype, then by all means, jump up and down, rant and flame away. The fact is, manufactures have changed their business model to take maximum advantage of a basic marketing 101 strategy; supply vs. demand curve and surprise, its working.

Add the fact the some auto workers had to send down orth American Workers to Mexican Auto plants in an attempt to improve...quality.
