Damn yup were on the same List, haha Angelo is my man ive bought 3 Trucks/cars from him and i keep going back to him, and im hoping this club stays small, I mean i wish everyone could have a ZL1 and enjoy them but at the same time i want them to be a little more exclusive than the Million camaro's i already see on the streets of sugar land everyday
(and can i just say that 96% of camaros i see here are female drivers)
i didn't know so many women were appealed to this car..

If they can market and sell the ZL1 for low 50s then im in by all means, i just dont get how a Supercharger, the magnetic ride, and the other hundred added features of the ZL1 can only boost the price 10-15k from the SS,

Don't think of it that way, and it's easier to accept.

Pretend a 2LT Camaro is equivalent to a 3.6L CTS coupe.

Now calculate how much the CTS-V added to that car. Add the difference to the 2LT Camaro we started with.

Plus - if it intends to compete with the $48.5k GT500...$60-70k just isn't going to cut it. The car will fall flat on its face.

Then again, how many people will spend more than 50,000 on a Chevy? I get that people buy corvettes because it is the epitome of the sportscar but a CAMARO? This car will definitely be an exclusive type deal. But for more than 50,000, I can bet that people will decide to go for a bmw or something more "upper-notch" than Chevrolet. So i think people will relocate their finances to another brand. Nothing against Chevy, but regarding the general population, they'll look at the ZL1 as a waste. But to a purist like myself, I would definitely fork out 50K for this beast.

I agree 100% with what you say. At $50,000 it is a really good deal for everything that you get with a ZL1. At $65,000 to $70,000 it would price itself out of the market that it wants to compete with and the GT500 would win by being $15,000 to $20,000 less.

I'd believe them when they say they'll probably only get 4-5 ZL1s. There are about 3000 Chevrolet dealerships across the US. There will probably be between 5000 and 10,000 ZL1s built per year, that means that each dealership will get 2 or 3 on average. So a large store getting double the average seems about right

That doesn't change the shape of the roof line, the angle of the rear glass, or the size of the rear quarter panel

Look at all the people on this very forum who have shelled out nearly $40k on their loaded 2SS/RS, then spent another 10k on mods. Or the ones that spend 60k on a supercharged car from Hennessy or one of the other shops? There are plenty of people out there who will spend that kind of money on a Camaro. Will some think its too much? Sure. But it doesn't matter how many think it isn't worth it ... only how many think it is worth it.

And if you want a point of reference on the price of a 2012 ZL1 ... a 1969 ZL1 would be worth between $45k and $50k in todays dollars.

But I wasn't talking about the people on this forum. People are on this forum because they are purists. They love the camaro and sportscars in general. I was referring to the general population. And To each his own. I think the V- coupe looks sick above.

Yes, based on the CPI multiple from January 1969 to July 2011 (the latest available numbers), which is 6.346, and the cost in 1969 dollars of a 9560 COPO Camaro of $7,200, the cost in today's dollars of a 9560 COPO would be approximately $45,692.

New member, first post. Let me tell you a short story about production numbers. I have a 2011 Porsche Spyder, I ordered it in Dec 09 and received it in June 2010 as a 2011 MY. Porsche stated that they would build as many as they had a demand for. Each Porsche dealer got 2 allocation to start with, larger volume dealers getting 3. To make a long story short, most dealers only got their original allocations. To date there has only been 600 Spyders produces and the run is over, even thought the demand has been much more. In 2011 about 500 Spyders we made, in 2012 only 100, the 2012 were sold out, built and are already delivered and the Spyder run is completed.

I realize that Chevy is different than Porsche, but if you really want a ZL1 don't leave it to chance, get in the day the ordering bank opens, cause you never know when the next opportunity is going to come by. When I ordered my Spyder on the day the ordering banks opened, all 3 allocation were sold on that day and the dealer never received any others. I just talked to my dealer and even now they have requests on a daily basis for Spyders.

Chevrolet will build as many ZL1's, SS's or 45th anniversary cars as they can sell. Their business is selling vehicles - not creating collector cars for the well connected. The pricing must be in the $50K range to be competative with similar segment muscle cars. With that said, I'm working 3 local dealer to ensure I get a ZL1. My son said I should buy 2 and sell one on the open market. He's a business major at LSU - might be a good idea!!

Did your deposit/order stipulate how it will be priced? I.E. MSRP?

Maybe their 65 - 70 range is what they plan on selling the first ones for?

Most likely some serious price whoring will be going on when they first hit.

They will be limited when they first come out, and hard to get a hold of for the first year. That's why initial dealer estimates come out on the 24th! Small time dealers will not have the allocation of big time dealers at first!

The other side to the price is how much the dealers will add to mark up, and you know they will try. That 60-70K price range that the dealer quotes was probably including the DMU
