How many track days?

How many track days have you Z/28 owners put on your CCM brake rotors? How are they holding up?

Anybody done so much racing, you've needed to replace them already?

I've been reading about these brakes a lot lately (Z06 forums, etc)...just curious how the parts have been holding up on Z/28s.

11 track days on mine. The front rotors are rougher than the rears, but i think the front rotors have 15 more track days in them, perhaps more.

I have about 20 events or so on them, and about a 50/50 mix of autocross and track days. The fronts look great, and the front pads are just about to the wear sensor. But even then there is tons of life left after that if you remove the sensor. I already have a second set of pads ready to go in, but the pads are holding on.

I have 8,000 miles on the car, including the 11 track days. Front rotors getting close to sensor, probably two more track days left in them. That would make 13 track days on the pads. I suppose the next set of pads will wear down more quickly.

8 track days, 9k miles. Rotors are showing some minor wear but still plenty of life left. I changed front / rear pads after 6th event, they are wearing exactly equal for me front and rear.

There's a wear sensor? Hoes does this work?

I don't know exactly where it's mounted on the pad...but since the CCM rotors are so particular...you can't use typical "squealers" because they will permanently damage the surface of the rotor as they scrape along the surface...so they equip electronic sensors to determine pad wear.

Thanks for the input guys.

Anybody been weighing their rotors as things wear?

I have 11k on mine, 7 track days and the rotors are pretty much like new.
I suspect they are going to last a very long time.

The wear sensor is mounted to the pad backing plate. Once the pad material wears down the plastic sensor will wear through exposing a wire inside therefore breaking the circuit and you will get a message on your display.

I do know of someone that has gotten 22 days out of their rotors, I believe he used 5 sets of pads up front and 2-3 sets out back. Most of those days were on a track that requires aggressive braking,( 130+ to 40 on the straight as well 2 other hard braking areas). As EXTREMZ has said, the rotors will get a rougher texture to them which will wear the pads quicker. The tracks you run on will play a significant role in the number of days you get out of the pads and rotors. Fast tracks with hard braking are going to wear them quicker than slow tracks, or tracks where you can carry more speed into corners.

I had 10 track days and replaced the fronts. The rear set is 50% left. I don't expect to get the same going forward as my times have improved and i am running over 585wrhp.

This car is out braking just about anything I've come up on other than the Lamborghini Aventador SV and the full race cars that are 400 to 800lbs lighter.

All the tracks I run have 140mph+ brake zones. Driving style also plays a part in brake wear. My buddy and I drive the same tracks and post the same times and he goes through pads faster.

Exactly. The tracks you run make a huge difference. I'm showing more wear than I expected in only four track days, but they were at Road America and Road Atlanta with a handful of 140mph straights leading up to very hard breaking zones.

That said, all the wear is even and the rotors look like new.

The brakes on this car are flat out amazing!
