Good for you!!
Hey Dragoneye, do you know for a fact that the ZL-1 will not be limited?

I'm not on the team. I don't sit in the meetings, but they've mentioned several times publically that they'll do what they can to meet market demand. And GM has not artificially limited the production of cars like the ZR1, Z06, or CTS-V...so I'm inclined to believe when they tell us it won't be limited.

chevy should refuse to supply cars to dealers who try to gouge the customer. Ultimately when this happens its the chevy brand that suffers and the customer. The dealer walks away with free money.

just like someone did (cant remember the brand ) when some dealer ripped off this disabled elder lady by charging her 40k over msrp on a car that was 20 grand. They canceled there contract and refused to deliver any more cars to them. Brought a huge smile to my face

50 different state franchise laws make it ridiculously hard to cancel a dealer contract for anything less than outright fraud.

Unfortunately supply and demand will be the initial problem. Then dealing with dealer greed after that. It was so nice finding dealers that so not gouge. Camaro Scotty, thanks for your help.

Since I am on a paid waiting list at MSRP and had no trouble getting it, as well as another dealer who I asked would do the same thing leads me to believe that the ZL1 will be as easy to order and get as any other model Camaro.

think it all depends on the MSRP and the economy at the time. when gm released the camaro again we were still in recession or at least worst then we are now and the camaro flew off the shelf. But you have to figure people were buying these for mid 30's or lower. But if asking price is 50+ you might be asking for a lot of people to bite off more than they can chew. IMO you'll see a spike when they first release of dealers selling for higher than MSRP and then they will lower in price and I think the time they stay in high status will be much lower than the initial release of the camaro.

I am going to buy one through my local dealer who is a friend of mine. I have bought a lot of vehicles through him and he is always fair. I talked to him last week about making sure I get an allocation. He actully spoke with his regional District Rep and told him a loyal customer wants to buy one when they come out and try to insure he gets an allocation. He does a good volume of vehicles but not compared to the big dealers.

If anyone is familiar with the way GM does allocations etc good luck. It is a mess to follow. There are not allocations for the car yet especially since it is not close to production.

PROFIT is Good.

GOUGING is BAD on your reputation.

SRP is understandable. ADM (added dealer markup) is truly objectionable and I will never support a dealer who uses ADM just because "they can"...

I'm guessing that it will be just like with the ZR1 'vettes. My friendly salesman added $50K to the sticker with a smile on his face in 2008. Now he'd take invoice for one. 2012 ZL1s will be at a premium at most dealerships. What can you say?
