I don't think it's maxed out I just think it's going to cost more just to start modding which in turn means that it's not as big of a value, and hits your pocket harder. why would you want to start with something that already has a mod potential less then the ls3 that is only putting out almost as much power as the ls3? talking about basic engine mods no FI. basic exhaust and intake.

now show the cai and shorty headers on the camaro from the factory and see what numbers it gets. but we don't see that because it makes the power with out having to have those. which means the mod potential is higher. IMO.

'monkey makes some great points in that post. They have optimized a lot on that; intake, exhaust, etc. I'm sure there's still some tuning left in it, however I don't think they're going to leave that much on the table, in THAT itteration at least. Now, when they feel like it's ready for DI, expect another significant increase...

Ahoo - I think Z28 is ready for something significant, be it in the form of LSA or a Gen V I can't wait

I hear the Ford boys are going to put together a Boss 302, maybe that is what the Z/28 at a lower price point (LSA with suspension tweaks or a HOT Cam and optimized headers and intake with a gear) should be competing against, and let the GT500 compete against the vette??

Motor Trend got a 12.3 in the 1/4. Half a second is huge and the amount of power to get that .5 second is significant. So you are right it's not like your SS versus a dump truck but in the performance car world a .5 second is huge. That being said you can spend 10 grand and get the same performance for less money but you do not have the warranty. I agree with you that part of the appeal of the Z will and should be handling.
I agree. Side by side race; .5 of a second is not car lengths, it's truck lengths when you going 110 mph.

i think we need a camaro in the same class as the gt500. i love the vette and everything, but the high-end mustang needs to have a sparring mate in the same class. we need a kick-ass camaro!! (i mean an even MORE kick-ass camaro, since the SS already does kick some serious aSS lol)

Unprecedented fuel economy and power, mostly. The Corvette will probably be among the first vehicles to receive it, and the trucks should see a healthy fuel economy spike while maintaining towing capacities, etc.

Nobody makes a V8 quite like GM powertrain.
