Competition strengthens the breed. Hope its true cause thats roughly what the camaro should come in at (maybe a tad heavier).

Edit, this is a branch off from svtp, which was discussed over on camaroz28.com. It hasnt been confirmed but is likely, Gonna be nice to see the competitions again.

I'm not skeert. This is likely EXACTLY one of the many reasons we don't have much information yet. Our Camaro engineers are probably holding their cards until they have more information regarding the competition. Regardless; this is not threatening information to me. I'm sure our base V8 will have at least 400 horse

Gulp

If they actually put a 32V OHC V8 cammer engine back into the GT, then that does change the game a lot. That rumor has been around for a while.

The base V8 should have 400 horses or more as radz282003 mentions above simply because the concept's LS2 was rated as having as much and the engine was being retired for a newer one. Anything less would be a disappointment and Chevrolet knows it. The higher end model could have the Z06 engine which would be my guess since I doubt we will see the same engine used in the ZR1 in a Camaro any time soon.

Ditto!! My first car was a Ford, since then (except for a couple of years when I was very poor and had a VW Bug) all of my cars/trucks have been GM, would never consider a Mustang.

They know as much as we do. Ford doesn't release all their info at once either. This is pure speculation. Until I see undoctored pictures of that motor, a dyno, or a 2010 Mustang, I won't believe it. Despite this, I congratulate Ford on their hard work in making the Mustang sell like it has. I'm sure the next one will represent American brands well.

Again, this is only good news for Camaro fans. It will mean Chevy has to work that much harder to stay competitive. It promotes even more powerful muscle cars and poses an even bigger challenge to imports.

I agree with the others, if this is true, this is great for competition!
I was asked once if I won a brand new GT500 Mustang, would I accept it. I said hell yeah..... then sell it and use the money to get me my Caaammmarrrooo.

I 110% agree with all these posts. Team Camaro seem to be particularly committed to bringing this car back with every intention of beating the competition. The waiting sucks, but I'm confident it will pay off big-time.
