Anyone else have a 1LE strut issue?

I know OZZY SS had a broken strut soon after he got his 1LE. I have had a thump/thud when my suspension unloads,like bottoming out,but i guess topping out might be a better term.I took it to the dealer and they couldn't duplicate it.It only happens on the passenger side,and i had concern,especially since i track my car,and routinely see 140 mph.

I found a road by the dealer where i could get it to do it,so took my service manager for a ride,and it did it.I just got a call and they found something,and ordered a new strut.So i was wondering if anyone else had any issues with your struts on your 1LE's?

My passenger front side seems to have the same problem , it sounds like it bottoms out very hard .

I had that problem in a 2005 cavalier I once had. What did they say the problem was?

I haven't heard yet,i just got the call today that they found something and ordered a new one.I'm running Willow springs next Sat.so sure glad they found it.I ran Fontana last month after i took it in and they couldn't find anything.I wasn't comfortable so i ended up buying track ins. just in case it gave out.

Yeah thats not something you want giving out at 140+. What company did you get track insurance through?


Off topic. Are you running a harness bar? if so what brand and how do you like it? Im in the market for one.

Ok so just got home,and it turns out the strut collapsed on the inside.I got my track Ins.through Lockton track Ins.
Yes i run a harness bar,and my set up is the bomb.

Sucks about that strut. Thanks for the info and pics. That's a nice setup, I'm looking forward to getting a bar and harness to keep me in the seat better.

I have a loud clunk coming from the front passenger side as well, I'm going to contact the dealer tomorrow after reading this. Probably the same problem.

I forgot to add, I only hear it when backing out of my driveway

Wow ours has a loud bang when the front suspension drops like the struts are "topping out" since day one of our 1le suspension swap, assumed it was the stiffer/ harder dampened struts and springs not happy about having the lighter weight V6 on them (our front ride height lifted about .5" after the swap due to the heavier spring rate) so did the noise go away after the dealer replaced the strut?
