The small performance car is/has been fading in my opinion. Many of those guys have turned to the new crop of Muscle Cars, Camaro, Challenger, Mustang, etc. Ford can get away with it as they have a history in their Ralley cars.
I'm in agreement. But the new Focus with AWD is mid 30's and that seems to get you a moderately equipped Camaro LT. Is there a market that GM needs to go after? Or just focus on Camaro and Corvette?

Problem is...I imagine that most people looking at smaller cars are not looking to spend a lot of money...so why would they buy an up-level package on a cheap car that they want to buy for cheap?

I know option packages are big money-makers for OEMs....but I'd love to see the Camaro and Corvette take the smaller cars "under their wing"...and market the **** out of them as sporty compact cars that have performance blood in their DNA.

How many other marques can claim that like Chevy? Camaro AND Corvette?

Al O. stated the Turbo-4 Camaro was for the "Fast and Furious" crowd that only wants small-tuner-turbo engines....(They are the future, like it or not)...

If the Camaro can get Chevy on the map with that market, it's Turbo-4, and do it with a relatively large Camaro, a smaller car with a sporty/tuner vibe would probably sell even better...even home-run status...lol....

Yeah, throw in all wheel drive, an upgrade hp tune, etc., all the better...

I think GM needs to compete more in the sporty sedan market. Sedans sell much more than coupes. IMO Buick is the way to go. They should have a couple different looks a GS 4 door and GSX 2 & 4 door. It could be built off the Alpha. They should compete with BMW, Audi and Mercedes. A $30K+ small car makes no sense to me.

What are the ATS & CTS if not alpha based sports sedans designed to compete with BMW?

I agree, however there's room in the sedan market for more and Buick could attack BMW, Audi and Mercedes from a lower price point than the Caddies.

I don't think GM wants to do anything to cannibalize ATS and CTS sales. They need all the sales they can get.

It would have less luxury and a lower price point. BTW I think the origami Design is played out. Time for Caddilac to go curvy and sleek.

Anyone know of a good black chrome treatment? I was looking at the Dupli Color Shadow Chrome kit but the reviews have me worried. I want to black out the chrome on my Chevelle but I'm not exactly sure how to go about it.

Only Dupli-Color. Can it be removed and reapplied if need be?

It's a multistage spray paint, so I'm sure you can remove it. You would just have to polish up the chrome again before reapplying it.

They used it on one of those weekend car shows and it looked pretty good.

I was just reading a thread that said there are still over 150 new Z/28s on dealer lots UNSOLD.

Starting to wonder if this bodes well for a big $$ Z/28 in the Gen6.

As you can already load up a 2SS to over $50,000 without much trouble it seems that a ZL1 will easily go over $60,000 with the LT4.

Not sure if GM will take the chance with a $75,000 Camaro again.

I think a lot depends on what is announced at NY and how the Gen6 1LE actually performs.

Hate to say it, but I'm wondering if there is room now.

But I still say a ZL1, lightweighted is the answer. I'm not feeling a great vibe for GM bringing on all new V8 and I don't think the 4.x liter Cadillac engine gets shared. But if it does then how would a 4.x Liter TT at 525 to 550 HP sound? 3.0TT V6 in the CT6 is already at 400 HP. Or would the LT4 at that point be the better choice?
