Borla Exhaust
Hi guys,
Im new to this forum, and i'm from far far away Bahrain to be precise. I want to get a Cat Back Exhaust for my V8 L99 Camaro prefferably Borla, what i want is maximum horse power with the least sound, i know it sounds stupid but in my country if your car is noisy, you will be fined day in day out. So what i thought off, was a Borla Cat back touring 140281. Is my choice right?? will it give me the HP of the Stinger? i want something nice on idle and cruising, but loud enough when revving or on full throttle. PLEASE I TRIED ALOOOOOOOOOT TO FIND THE SOUND OF THE TOURING with a video from the outside, with the car actually revvvving, but i couldnt find anything except the one from inside:(:( anyone help, ideas, anything. excuse my writing cuz english isnt my first language thanx Last edited by hamad_311; 02-23-2010 at 08:56 AM. |

i think you'll be fine with the touring cat back as long as you leave the resonator in. the tone will change a lil bit but it won't be loud. plus, i've read that the exhaust piping is pretty good for flow, so you wouldn't see much of an increase in HP...mostly just sound

If you want HP and not sound I would get some headers and leave the stock exhaust on. If you do just catbacks your not going to get that much HP. Here's a link to all the exhaust sounds.

No on a stock car Corsa is quiet compared to Borla. Borla has the drone that makes the sound carry. if I were you I would keep the stock mufflers remove the resonators tune out AFM and install some headers. the most hp gain with a better sound that isnt Loud at all. No muffler alone gives you Hp they are for sound. |

No Joke... Corsa is hands down the quietest system of them all other than stock.
You said you wanted quiet... Borla has a much deeper tone that a lot of folks like, but you will get drone. I have some comparison Vids we are working on now between the 2 systems. Both with and without headers. Still need to get the final video done before posting these. |

Our new ATAK muffler for the Camaro is designed for the same killer sound with pretty much no interior resonance.

I own a Borla Touring and it is VERY quiet at idle. (People might not know there are 2 types of Borla: S (Loud) and Touring (quiet.) )
It is a bit noisier than stock @WOT, but idle and cruising, very quiet. Barely louder than stock. And the best part is they have absolutely NO resonant drone at cruising speed. There was a Borla rep on here, and he said that the Borla Touring Catback was good for about 13 HP at the wheels, might have been lying, but thats what he said. Also, you save in the neigborhood of 40 pounds over your stock exhaust. In bench racing 10 pounds = 1HP, so that's 4 horsepower just from changing exhaust! |

I originally wanted Borla also and had it on order, but Corsa came available to me much faster. Pretty tame system wth the X-pipe and resonator but if 2010SSRS says other are quieter I believe him. My headers go on next week... it's much to quiet as is... |
