How do you park if you have a lowered splitter?
Having had an instance that mangled the rubber rock guard on my car. I have a few questions.
How do you park at lots with the prefabbed concrete curbs? I hit one today with threaded rod sticking out the hole 4 inches painted yellow the same color as the curb. If you have a splitter, How close to the ground is it and how far in front of your car does it protrude? I would really like to get a splitter but afraid that it would fall the path of stock rubber rock guard or my garage brick footer that is 6.5 inches above my garage floor as I have a short garage. Any suggestions on what to do would be appreciated. I posted pictures on the modifacation thread but no one responed to my questions Sorry if this is the wrong place but I am trying to get an answer as I don't like my rubber rock thing broke and need to replace after I remove this weekend.

As far away from the curve as possible without the ass end sticking out too far. (about 2 feet away avg.)

I always try to line up my car a foot behind the end of the passenger door next to me.

Live and learn.... After repair back in or don't come close to the curb with the front end...

And the only real solid advise I can think of is do what I do: either park reverse in...or don't pull up as far as you want to. The Camaro isn't a long car...you should have a couple feet to play with in the average parking lot spot. I have the 1LE spoiler to deal with now...but dealt with the ZL1 (much lower and longer) front spoiler in the past...I just...didn't pull up as far, or - I reversed in. |

Mr. Wyndham,
Is the rubber rock guard necessary? If so I will replace and install a splitter it is ripped up pretty good. I have it tye wrapped on. then put on an after market splitter. Thanks for your advise!

Ouch! Looks like you scuffed up the bottom of your front clip a bit, too! Sorry to see that!
The air dam is designed to aid in directing airflow underneath and around the car...fuel economy, mostly...high speed stability, a little bit...I guess the degree to which it's "necessary" would be argued depending on who you talk to. It was part of the original design of the car, and aerodynamics is very important to me, so in my opinion - yes, it's necessary. |

Thank you Mr. Wyndham
My Driveway is a little steep to get into and I scuff about 1/4 of the time going in and out of the drive backing out. If if back in I don't so much.. so I guess fix and make sure i don't scuff and then maybe put a splitter on or modify my driveway. Thank you so much for your answer.

Have you attempted to take your driveway at a little angle, coming off the street? Sometimes, if you can get one wheel up and onto the "grade", it helps prevent chafing the undersides of the car... |
