GM too many different "collector's edititions" or "special editions".

This new trend to make a collector edition/special camaro for every 3 months is retarded. It will backfire in the end when GM wants $3-$5 more for every "special" car, or $40k more for a special NM camaro. It's not even the price. It's the idea oohhh and special collectors edition.. By the way all camaros should have paint jobs like your "special camaros" with painted stripes instead of vinyl ones if stripes are your thing.

As far as I'm concerned there is only one "special camaro" and that's Bumblebee! Not because I own one, but because the movie generated a lot of interest for the camaro. Like smokey and the bandit.

GM if you have great colors, great ideas, just put them into an already great car and stop playing the collectors game to try to make more money on the "special collector edition". Just make nice cars with nice options that people want.. And they will sell if you don't get greedy !

I'm telling you I saw this collector edition idea go bad 15 to 20 years ago in the comic book industry. I'm not a comic book geek, but I did see it unfold. They tried to make "new" collectors editions for everything. In the end nobody cared because it got boring.

It backfired on Harley too.. Look what I have a chome 3/8 nut.. So you want a special chome nut? That's $25 and maybe I'll sell to you .. if you throw in your wife..

Collectors cars happen by accident 20 years later, not by design..

They have a good car and good ideas, just make them and stop being greedy by trying to play the collectors game.. They will sell more if they just off the options and make a good car.. I'm telling you the collector game will get boring..

Yes but there is only one "special car" for ford and shelby, and they have been doing it for years.. GM is trying to make 4 special cars a year, and everyone else it hopping on the band wagon.. it's just too much. special won't be special anymore..

GM has calloway, and the others..

The next special car should be the Z/28 and the next transformers camaro in the next movie, and at normal prices..

They should just try these different options and go with what works, and scrap what doesn't.. Meaning sell what sells and discontinue what doesn't.. Ask customers what they want and try new things..

I thought read one every year?

I don't think it's retarded, anymore....I DID, though. In fact, I remember poking fun at Ford for doing the same thing. They aren't trying to make collector cars...I realized they're trying to take advantage of a market, and keep the Camaro line fresh and active. A special edition here or there will do just that!

Continuing to add and swap options out on the production car is prohibitively expensive for the ENTIRE car. By limiting the runs and option choices to just a few combinations over a few months' time, they protect the price integrity of the car as a whole, and still get to make a few extra $$ of the folks who like the S.E. cars.

As long as they keep it under control, it shouldn't backfire...and if you don't want one -- don't buy one!

ummmm.
GM hasn't made any "collector edition" Camaros. They've made special editions.
If there are people out there who think they are collector cars, that is their prerogative.

BTW, you don't have a "bumblebee" you have a Transformer's edition. Big difference

Yes you are right.. Call them special cars and slash the collectors.. As far as the TFE I'm not defending it because I own one anyone who wanted one could have bought one in during that time that they offered it. They should have offered it for the whole year..

Yes...they're already called SPECIAL EDITIONS. I don't remember GM once saying anything about collector cars.

They are doing just what you want them too. It seems to me that you just don't like seeing the "special edition" label slapped on it.

Think about it:

"just build what we want" -- people want these S.E. packages. And people are still pulling Camaros off the lots in strong numbers. So....check.

"save a ton of money on gimmics" -- it costs less to do a S.E. car than to incorporate all of those ideas into the standard production car. And those "gimmics" are subtle marketing...guess what these limited cars do? Get the Camaro's name out there on autoblog, etc. Let people know its still kicking strong. So, it's double-dipping where $$ is concerned. So...check 2.

"It's a great car.. Let keep rolling with that !" -- Lest my memory deceives me...there's been rumors of a thunder-stomping Camaro flying around the Nurburgring recently. Rumors of an improved interior, and more power in the SS. These S.E. models serve to amplify the image and value of the standard production car, too.....so...check 3.

Look at the glass half-full.

I want the new seat covers off of the Red Flash Camaro. I'd also like some of the stitching.

I think these editions might be a great way for GM to get some different accessories in the market. Keeping it new brings more people in to look at the Camaro.

As for the rarity of the car, mine with all the options made it 1 of 11. I don't know if it will be rare one day, but I am going to enjoy it.

Yes I stand corrected.. No one else needs to correct me... I've acknowledged it, but you know where it's going subliminally.. Limited runs.. Ohhh it will be worth money in 20 years people are thinking.. yes it could be true, but it could get old too..

In the old days they made cars.. Some rare ones survived and became collectable or rare.. With these special editions they are trying to do this by design..

Just make good cars, with good colors and options people want.. try out different things and what sells sells, and what doesn't scrap..

It's almost like in the synergy green edition for example they were testing to see if a color like that would be excepted and then offered it for the next model year..

Call them pilot vehilces or test runs for the next year.. it would be better suited..

There are only special editions once or twice a year and they never over lap each other. It's good to keep the line fresh like dragoneye said. They are trying to get us what we (the enthusiasts) want while at the same time keeping it fresh for the general public. If people see the same car over and over again, eventually they will get tired of it and become disinterested.

I believe part of the reason why the previous gen Camaros failed was because of lack of variety or change.
