Question Couple Questions about my new car

Hi guys,

i have a few questions about my v6 Camaro

I bought it in November (16k miles) but its been is storage since then so im not too familiar with it yet. Anyway i took it out this Saturday and i noticed two things, the first is that it seems to run very hot when its not moving. I am basing this on the coolant temperature function on the gauge display. I noticed it seems to hold around 210 when im driving casually, granted it was only 60 degrees that day. However when i stopped it in the garage it jumped up to 235 in a few minutes! I checked the fluid level and sure enough the overflow bottle was near empty! I paid for a synthetic oil change before i put it in storage so i assumed the they checked the fluid level. I went out and bought Prestone Dex-cool and filled it to about the middle line of the dip stick (while the engine was cool)

Has anyone noticed their coolant mysteriously disappearing?

The second thing i immediately noticed was that the engine seems to be making some strange sounds. I’m not talking about the clicking from the direct injector, but it makes kinda like a "whooping" sound like the belts are loose or something but i could not seem to find a problem. I could hear it from 30 feet away so i assume that may be an issue. Its hard to describe but maybe someone else has experienced this

This may be normal but I wanted to check with the pros before i blew this stuff out of proportion

I will probably just have to watch it and see if it gets worse, before I take it to the dealer

Thanks for any input!

No signs of a coolant leak

I just wanted to be sure there may be somthing genuinely wrong with my car, im kinda OCD about it

Will be having the dealer install my new catback system soon anyway so i guess i should have them check these issues as well

Neither of those sounds normal, and the temp should be holding at 190....210 is way to hot. The jump is a little normal, bit not a jump of 55 degrees... take it to your dealer ASAP!

If the additional coolant didn't help, have them check the thermostat. and the computer isn't detecting a problem as well?

You better check for signs of coolant in the oil.

Just because it's new doesn't mean everything will work 100%. That's why they give you a warranty.

This goes for anything new.....not just the Camaro.

That bulletin looks like it is for the ZR1 and the Camaro SS.

As others have said, check your oil and see if it is milky, or over full. Did you notice any excessive white smoke out your tailpipe?

It is NOT normal and I would take it to the dealer regardless of what you find. No sense in doing harm to your engine.
