I can't see it running faster than the Super Snake and since it's in the middle between the base and the Super snake on HP, it looks to me like about a 12 second car or just under depending on traction. I think the ZL1 will give the 2013 GT500 a good run for the money and I think the GT500 can't come close on a road course. Further, it's ugly!
Theres way more maths then that....the supersnake is nowhere near a complete gt500 redo like the 2013...its simply a supercharger kit with suspension parts and a fly body kit...

The new gt500 have:
-A completely new 5.8 engine
-Carbon driveshaft (200mph possibility without braking and less loss because its 11 pounds lighter then the 2 pieces)
-trimmed aero for no lift at high speed
-Longer gears to manage addi power and tq
-Bigger 6 pistion calipers and discs

optionnaly
-Same bilstein electronic dampers as the nissan GTR (yeah the one who smoked the zl1)
-5 Additionnal drivetrain coolers

Personnaly i like all cars...no more chevy then ford or porsche or ferrari; as long as they bring interesting new products on the table!

We'll be fine.

It is my understanding that

-The 5.8 is an enhanced 5.4 with a more efficient supercharger...
-Reworked aerodynamic pieces for better stability - but I haven't read anywhere that it is neutral or produced downforce at speed like the ZL1.
-Brakes were only improved up front? I may be mistaken, there...

Optionally,
-bilstein shocks weren't what allowed the GTR to beat the ZL1 around Inde...MR is vastly superior part for part...
-3 factory-installed cooling systems?

EDIT:

Additionally...I'm curious to know how many times the GT500 is allowed to "over rev" to 7000 in a given time period...it sounds great for a drag race, but would appear to leave the car to the same rpm limit as the Z around a road course.

Partially right but the engine is a crazy redo (watch jamed hamedi speak about the engine)
-Different everything from the oil pan to different crank, valves pistons, ford gt cams, forged con rods, cross drilled block, tvs 2300 like the zr1 but with more effective intake side... ...the zl1 runs a small 1.9l supercharger ...thats smaller then the 2.0 2012 gt500 superchager!

Yeah it is bigger, but the old blower was completely inefficient compared to the new TVS units. There's really no comparison in volume, there.

I wasn't aware of all the internal changes. Sounds like it's up to the task!

in depth article on the 5.8 in the GT500.

Interesting that the code name for the new 5.8 and 2013 GT500 was Trinity. Was also the code name for the United States first Nuclear Test.
Great article. I read it last night and the liner spraying that Ford is doing to the block is really interesting. Ford licensed the technology to Nissan for the GT-R.

New rotors all around, new calipers in front. I doubt the car could do 202mph with any sort of stability without downforce.

Didn't they do that for the 5.4 also?

Yes. 2011 was the first year it was used.

11.7 @ 120 in a Super Snake is like the guy that tested the ZL1 and ran a 13.5 @ 107mph.

Evan Smith has run a 11.95 @ 120+ in a stock 2010 GT500(540hp).

He believes he can run some 11.60s-11.70s with the new GT500(650hp). He said the torque management/launch control system works pretty good. He got to drive one and said they are much easier to launch now.

The Corvette makes due ...it's only that I haven't seen any mention of net downforce, yet. Aero changes, increased stability, etc...

"Overall, Ford says the 2013 GT500 has 33 percent more downforce at 160 mph"

http://www.caranddriver.com/news/201...-and-info-news

That doesn't give any indicator of how substantial the downforce is, but there must be some.
