Revisiting the rear spoiler nuts...

For those who may have missed it a couple months ago, there is/was an issue with the (6) nuts that hold the rear spoiler on coming loose. At that time, I checked mine- they were loose- and I re-tightened them myself. Just for shits and giggles, I checked them again last night- now roughly 3 months later. Three of them were loose again. It is simply not enough to re-tighten them for those of you who did. An option such as loctite or nylon-insert nuts (or gorilla gluing the stud and nut like I now did) is required to stop them from loosening up again. I'm assuming they loosen up simply because of the vibration forces coupled with expansion and cooling of the studs and nuts as the temperature changes.

In any case, simply an FYI for us do-it-yourselfers who didn't take the extra step.

oh, and...
Merry Christmas (slightly in advance)

p.s. for those wondering... M6x1 requiring 10mm socket or nut driver to tighten

And, YES, there are 6 nuts- 2 are under the liner.

Please remember there are (6) six of them, not (4) four.

+ 1... There are 6 nuts holding the spoiler on, not 4.

You need to put Loctite thread locking compound on them, not gorilla glue.

Do you know what the thread count and pitch is for these so people can buy the proper nylon locking type nuts?

You could always have your dealership check it out next time you are in for service. I know my VIN was flagged to have them add loc-tite to prevent the nuts from getting loose again.

But but but... It's gorilla glue I just didn't have loctite at home last night so it seemed like an adequate stop-gap measure...

I'm 99% sure I know what it is but I'm not saying until I go home and verify it for sure- look for the answer later tonight.

Pardon my ignorance, but is this for the stock spoiler on the RS package or for a different aftermarket spoiler?

Yep same happened to me, I could feel the spoiler loose again. The next time tho she was headed to the dealer anyway so I had them loctite it...
