I've got a two-tone car cover that's under the car-port when I'm not at a car show or maybe drive it around town some times. Thanks for your articles even thus I knew about most of it but I'm sure still "Teachable" at my old age. Looking to get a 2011 Camaro which will be the SG color.

When I'm not gonna drive it for a few days, I wash my car and clean it all up, pull it in the garage and immediately cover it.
I am so off topic with this but I noticed your spot cooler. Have you had any trouble out of it and how is it at keeping the garage cool? I have two myself and they both lasted about 2 lousy years.

Its like having A/C at full blast! I have to lab dogs that stay in the garage, and the car of course, haha, so it's nice to keep it cool. It works great, I have had mine for 2 years got it from Lowe's on sale and its still running strong, no problems. It's pretty big. Usually set it on 69-70 and it will hold that temp. Hot and humid here in Eastern North Carolina so its nice to have. As long as I shut the garage fast it holds its temp.

Digging up an old thread via the search function...

In the market for a cover. I live in an apartment complex with a covered spot. I generally wash the car once a week and use a California duster just about every time I drive it. It sits sometimes for days but generally very little dust accumulates. I say generally, because my jackhole gardeners come around sometimes 3 times a week with leaf blowers.

This is what those bungholes have done to my JUST-WASHED car in the past:

After about 3x of me bitching to the manager and asking them to pay for a wash each time (not to mention the scratches and dings from flying rocks), they don't use the blowers near my car anymore. But, even if they don't come within 20 feet, they kick up so much dust in a few seconds it still covers the car like it's been sitting out there for several days.

Since I can't wash it everyday, my main concern is scratching the paint with the cover. I'm considering the Noah. Would using the California duster on the car be enough before putting on the cover? Or is not using a cover the better option here?

First, I seriously question HOW you are using the California Duster. If you are using it the way MOST people do, you are doing way more damage than the landscaping guys are doing. In your situation with that amount of dust sitting on the car, you would be better off using a Air Force Master Blaster to remove the dirt instead of your CA duster. Second, the only time you ever use a car cover is directly after you have washed and dried the car. I clearly state that in this thread. Any other time is going to result in scratches. Once a car has set outside or has been driven, it is at that point DIRTY and either needs to be washed or NOT covered at all.

You need to take a look at this thread concerning dust on your vehicle. You also should invest in either a $30 leaf blower from Sears to remove the dust off your car or the Master Blaster, due to the amount of dust on your car. It is much safer to blow that amount of dust off the car than touching it with anything.

Just ordered my Covercraft Weathershield HP Car Cover for my soon to be delivered 2013 coupe. Hope to make the Junkman proud. Thanks for the tips and hope this does the job for my 4 season weather here in MD. No garage to help her out.

If you can find a forum that they support, you will probably find a coupon code.

Thanks for the info.

Mine is a weekend warrior now.

So I'll be choosing from one of these indoor car covers.

The link to the fabrics guide in my initial post is no longer any good. Here's the new link.
