I did my mod for under 20 bucks.

I got the LED's from here: http://www.oznium.com/prewired-surface-mount-led

I tapped into the TCS light and it only comes on when the lights are on. I did it just like this person did. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138879

That's a great idea. I will probably end up doing that. The only advantage that the GM kit has is that it's plug and play.

I used the GM Kit and I got mine from Patrick at GM Parts House. Since installing this kit I have been Very Happy with it and I have had no fitment paroblems at all. Looks GREAT with whatever setting I select on it.

Hey guys,

You've got some bad ass rides on here! I have some questions about these OEM Ambient Light Kits. I'm close to having one installed in my 2012 Buick LaCrosse. It's got the LFX 3.6 with a whopping 303 HP (I'm pretty sure you guys & the Caddy's get more). Luckily I do have the top model, called 'Touring' which comes with a bunch of bells and whistles like HiPer Struts, Real-Time Dampening w/ Sport Mode, HUD, Blind Spots, Articulating HID's, Heated/Cooled Seats, and some other goodies. Obviously our lighting kits are going to be a little different (for example our kits have a sticky back membrane switch that goes by the driver's knee). Over on my Buick forums the guys are old and slow and don't make many changes to their cars so I was hoping to get some insights from you guys. I've called several parts supply houses and spoken with my dealer and a few others. No one's installed these before and can't answer my questions until after I buy one of the kits. That's a stinker. I had OEM door sills installed for about $550 a few months ago and they're awesome, now maybe ready to move on this piece if I can find some answers.

For the LaCrosse the kit comes in 2 flavors... just cup lights or cups & foot-wells. I'm having trouble deciding which to choose. I want the cups for sure, just not sure about adding the foot-wells. I have a copy of the Buick flavored installation instructions but not a 'user manual'. My main question is about controlling the lights. Do the foot-wells come on and off with the cups or can they be controlled separately. I don't think I'd really want to be driving around with blue feet the whole time that I want the cups lit up (our kits are blue only to match our other interior lighting).

Anyone with the foot-wells able to speak to how they are controlled and if they've turned out to be annoying or wonderful?

Thanks!

Marc

The Footwell lights and the Cupholder lights are controlled by the same switch. The switch is a simple pushbutton switch. Positions are 1. off, 2. im Blue, 3. High Blue, 4. Dim Red, 5. High Red, 5. Cycle (goes thru all 4 levels).

I got it from Patrick at GM Parts House and I paid about $315.00. For being Plug-and-Play and the LED's matching the ABL light already in the car I personally feel the money was well spent.

I can get the Buick kit for $320 delivered and another $150 for the dealer install. It's fairly complicated getting all the trim pieces off my car, not really something I'm interested in doing myself.

Appreciate the help, thanks guys.

Actually the install on my Camaro was very easy and the directions were very stright forward. If you were out here in Cali I would gladly lend a hand.

Appreciate the offer, but I'm a long way from Cali. My wife and I did just get home last week from taking our LaCrosse on a DC > Vegas road trip. Flattened those Colorado mountains right out, she's a great cruiser. We had lunch with a relative in Denver who has a black SS and will apparently be taking delivery on a yellow ZL1 in a few weeks. I think he said he ordered it nearly a year ago. We spent about 3 weeks driving around and did a ton of stuff- Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, here's a cool pick of us stopping at Ramone's Body Shop (Disney Cars Movie) in Shamrock Texas.

Yesterday I spent some time test driving the new '13 Caddy XTS. It's based on my car (same engine, trans, suspension) but has a few extra features. It's got that new CUE interface which is bad-ass (multiple dash layouts, haptic feedback), full color HUD w/ speed limit indicator, Opus leather seats that buzz the left or right side of your tush if drifting out of lane, intelligent cruise with self break front and rear, rainsense wiper, auto-dry Brembos, and other goodies. GM sure is doing some things right these days. At 60 large for the Platinum version (+20 over what I paid for my Buick) I'm gong to have to increase my next car budget

A factory Synergy has blue lights but looks green because of green panels.

This is a very helpful thread, and thanks for posting it.
I was always dissapointed that GM hadn't fitted something a little more.

After reading this I did some searching.

It seems that ACSCO make these for different cars, and not just GM.

I was able to find a KIA unit that looks exactly the same but with 4 cupholder LEDs for USD $35 from Parts Brokers
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-AMBI...-/262584075534

Apart from the power lead, and a metal bracket riveted to one footwell light, the other parts look the same.

So while I appreciate the "GM parts" bit, it seems they buy from a supplier and have them marked accordingly.

But the pre-programmed colors may be different
