1LE windshield damage

I was on my way home from work driving on the freeway and I saw some gravel on the roadway. Before I had a chance to react, some of it flew up and hit the windshield hard!! Now I have some nice marks/chips on my windshield.. yay. Is it just me or do our cars attract stuff?

Can anyone recommend a good repair method?

Damn that sucks dude. Sorry to hear. I had the same thing happen to my Trailblazer, and ended up with some windshield chips and a broken fog light. I had a local auto glass company come out and they injected some sort of gel into the chip. It kept the chip from becoming a crack and you couldn't notice it anymore. I'm sure any local auto glass company can do it.

Yeah, most glass companies can repair that before it becomes a crack. Get it fixed sooner rather than later!

Most states require your insurance company to replace or repair with no expense or harm to your rates. That is the case in FL for at least 20 years, not sure about CA.

Find a local reputable shop that replaces windshields and they might be able to repair the chip. It can be done but I'm sure it depends on the severity. Strange but true there was a guy setup at a Bass pro shop parking lot offering to repair damaged windshields. Was he any good and affordable who knows. Any yes these cars attract. I park as far away from everyone in any parking lot, and sure enough when I come back to the car there will always be someone parked beside me with a 100 free parking spaces to choose from. Why me?

+1

It all depends on your insurance company whether or not you will have to pay for the repair. I used to have Farmers and a repair was free and a new windshield was on $100. Call your insurance company and find out if you are covered

Mine got chipped the 2nd day of ownership! Safelite might be able to fix it.

Most good insuraqnce companies knows it is cheaper to fix or replace for free to the owner,... then to cover what happens if they dont.

If they dont cover free fixes,... then you need a new underwriter.

whispers,... ***Allstate***,... they have been great for me.

I was just told it was not really repairable since there are no cracks and the pits are not that deep... Plus my insurance has a $500 deductible.

Wow, that must've been something big! I will probably replace it if cracks develop...

Like our paint I find our windshield to chip very easily.
