Obviously a 305 since it's a stick shift. I wonder where the wheels are?

this video is about 5 years old atleast. As an IROC fan I read deep into this story a few years back. Since finding the video, the guy refreshed all the fluid, and installed a pristine set of 85-87 iroc wheels, installed the ground effects and sold the car in nearly new condition.

The original owner, who put it in the trailer, ordered it direct from GM and had it shipped to him, so it never went to the dealer to recieve dealer prep. It was ordered with a 305 TBI and no wheels, as his intent was to immediatly drop in a big motor and put aftermarket wheels on it. A 350 was not available in the IROC until 87 and was never, except for like 2 one offs, avaiable in anything but an auto. I read he never got around to doing this and then passed away So the car sat in this trailer until someone tipped off the guy in the video about its were abouts. so very cool

actually found a thread on here from 2010 on this

Yup, old video, but a good one.

Pristine IROCs are out there, a lot of them. The one in the video is probably one of the more exciting examples, but just like some people do with the Gen 5, they buy them and put them away in storage, to never be driven.

I see lots of clean/stored, low-mile (<30k) original Irocs come up for sale. A lot of the sellers are out of their f* minds, quite honestly, it's not that rare or valuable. Decent examples seem to go in the $13k-$20k range depending on options, originality, condition. In other words, not much more than they sold for, new, back in the day (almost 30 years ago!).

Thanks, EZ28... the OP's video was really cool, and your additional link (in order to sort of "follow-up" on the story) is really cool.

Looks legit, looks fer real... really cool.

I do love me an IROC.

I had an 87 IROC-Z back in high school 98-02. Loved the car, it was extremely clean. At the time I didn't really appreciate how clean it was. sold it to some guy, who then wrecked it in a snow storm :( I am still hoping to get another one, one day!

either a black 89 5.7 TPI or a yellow 87 5.7 TPI! Maybe I can be as lucky as this guy in the video!

$16K in 1985 = roughly $35K today (per http://www.dollartimes.com/inflation...6000&year=1985), that's a really cool find.

These cars were actually converted at Kerr Industries in Oshawa Ontario where they got roll cages and race seats installed. At least the cars that ran in the Canadian race series were. The dealers were then shipped a sealed 5.0 HO engine and a set of Brembo brakes to install. You had to be registered in the series in order to get one. I ordered one to a guy that was entered in the series and then developed health issuses and was excused from racing but he kept the car in ready to race condition. I wonder if he still has it?

But...why are the tires inflated the entire time in the video? Wouldn't after 20 (or even less!) some odd years the tires would be flat? Seems suspicious to me
