Vararam + RX Catch Can/Breather questions

I'm going to do the install today or tomorrow, driver's side.

If you have this setup, what did you do with the Vararam breather? Leave it on?

Any harm or benefit on having the Vararam breather and the RX breather?

Plug the line? If you plugged the line, what did you use and how much hose did you leave?

Help = greatly appreciated.

Remove the Vararam breather and plug it with one of these http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...6&postcount=44
this can be purchased from lowes.
Any harm, well I am not Tracy or SC2150 (same person). I think you would cap it and use the oil cap filter. I placed my RX Catch can on the driver side just easier to get to.

Here is what I did and was recommended by Tracey. Basic answer is toss the VR breather to the side and plug the line. Just put the breather and catch can on this morning too.

Here are a few installed pics:

First pull out the whole clean side assembly:

There should be a little 45' fitting on the back of the engine:

Got this little plug at home depot, was like $1.75:

Take off the last little black rubber piece of the assembly and put the plug in:

Install the plugged rubber piece back on the engine:

One more thing, I didn't route my catch can hoses very well so my engine cover doesn't really snap on very well. Plus the edge of of the engine cover sits tight on the top of the catch can which could also account for it not snapping back in easily.

I would just mount it on the driver side. That is if you dont have something else there. I asked for the driver bracket and Tracy was nice enough to send one. RX is the best!!!!

Tracy (RX) did mine for me when I drove down there and pulled my Vararam breather off then capped it. As for the engine cover, the day before yesterday I got tired of pulling it off and back on so I decided to ditch it. It is not only useless (other than for show) but it holds hot air in. Very bad design by GM... When I get my TB from Tracy (who knows when) I'll pay extra to have the whole TB painted. That cover will be going into the garbage. lol

I was originally going to, but decided on that location. If for any reason I need to put the stock intake back on, the drivers side mount would be a pain to try and relocate, imo.

Oh i'm with you, i've been leaving my engine cover off for quite some time now. The only time I'd put it back on is for a show. It was just more of an fyi for people doing this.

Just redundant and probably letting a little too much air in. Probably won't hurt it too much, but your fuel trims won't be able to completely set in until you find something to plug it.

The breather VR sends out is too restrictive by itself, and doesn't let enough clean air get in. The RX breather has a built in air baffle that let's just the right amount of air in.

Going with just the VR breather and put the regular oil cap on for right now shouldn't be too bad, but I would still try to use the VR breather only whenever you get a chance to head to the hardware store.

Ya, My cover was a painted one that cost extra, (didn't want it, just came that way) so I took it off the first day and put it on a shelf in the garage so it'll be nice looking when I go to sell the car later.

You could always do a cool custom job on yours rather than just ditching it.
Several members have posted threads on their custom covers.
