if you look at the instructions for the old school mild to wild you will se exaclty what I am talking about. they source 12v from another location then tap into the existing fuse location and there is a pushbutton switch down in the dead pedal.
I've been contemplating a way to integrate a toggle button into the third HomeLink button. I agree - this is easier than it seems on the surface. And Chevy made it easy - Dual Mode exhaust is on it's own circuit...and no fuse defaults the system to OPEN. Bless'em!

...for me, it's just a matter of deciding if its worth the effort or not. I like the idea of rumbly idle, drone-less cruising, and screaming WOT....factory seems to have nailed it again!

I have the mild to wild switch in my z06. I believe i paid like $75 for it installed and got the remote one. I don't see any reason why the same switch cannot be installed in the ZL1. I plan to go by corvettes of Houston this weekend to get it in my ZL. Based on the sound in my z06, you won't want to go on long trips with it off. Very loud inside the car.

If you want homelink control, go to http://sunsetorangecreations.com/Exh...nder_Car2U.php
I have had one on my ZR1 for a couple years and it works great. It is $140, but it works and there is no button, fob or anything else that you have to mess with and you definately want to quite the exhaust on a long drive as the drone gets old after a while. I am not sure this will be necessary on the ZL1 since exhaust is open at idle and low RPM, unlike the corvette that sounds pretty weak at idle with the exhaust closed.

I think it's fuse 8 in the fusebox behind all the covers on the passenger side of the trunk. You can look up "fuses" in the index of your driver's manual to be 100% sure. It's labeled "Exhaust flappers".

I'll also mention....if you're just looking to hear if the sound is worth it or not...you can disconnect the vacuum line from the engine and plug the hole temporarily....my goal is to locate that line tomorrow, and try it myself.

Its worth it! And if I take the fuse out I can always put it back in no problem right? And it will go back to default setting?

Yes. The valves "default" to open via springs. What the fuse does is allow the computer to open a vacuum line somewhere to pull the exhaust valves closed.

So...no fuse, no vacuum, no close.

Put it back, and all is well.
