Caused by tire install

Like the title says, does this look like improper tire install was the cause of this?

Looks like it considering below the "DOT" text on the tire the mark goes to the inner rim and under the tire yet the outside of the wheel/lip and the tire above the mark is unscathed.

Did you just get new tires?

Looks to be from install. Under lip of tire, ask to see the tire that was removed.

The teflon/plastic guide slipped off and the tire iron got your wheel. This looks like a simple accident, nothing major. It happens and it does suck...

I worked at a tire shop for several years of my youth. If it went halfway around the wheel, then they just didn't use the plastic guide piece. Atleast they didn't pound wheel weights onto the lip of the only set of your wheels known to exist in the US. I had that happen once on some mini lite style wheels on the 240Z, I was very upset.

To be clear, I see no evidence of an "improper" tire install. That would rip the bead and have no effect on your wheel. The guide just fell off and the mechanic didn't have the balls to communicate that an issue occured.

So just an update on this, So a update on this issue,
Glenwood springs big o decided they would repair the rim, took about two week for that, then on July 13th I dropped off my rim and they said it should be done by the time I got home from vacation on the 1st, well now they are saying the paint (gun metal) is being difficult to match and is taking more time, is it me or is this a lot of bs, is this the way all big o shop are now or just mine?
