Japan edition Camaro???

So, I realize that other contries may have some different restrictions on cars, but I don't get why the grill would need to be different?? Anyway, saw this on a Japanese show Best Motoring. No clue what they were saying but they pitted it against some Mustang and like a 2005 Mercedes???? Anyway, kinda interesting to see.

Oh, I know. I was thinking of some of the worried comments about features on that car making it here...

It would be SO easy to integrate the turn signals into the mirror on the existing model without turning it into a pregnant guppy! Whassup with that? Sheesh. I can only imagine all the aftermarket things Japan will make for the grill...glowing strobe for a bowtie for starters. The yellow reflector almost looks like an afterthought from an RV bumper.

Yeah, I'm not upset that we didn't get these features!! Oddly, the bowtie on the rear had the same black 'guard' around it. Not nearly as clean looking on any of it really. Those mirrors really could use some help too!

Sadly the rest of the world have to have side indicators to allow cars on multi-lane motorways to see you indicating, if they are at 3/4's to you. I'm having LEDs placed within the body of the mirror hopefully.
The "yellow reflector" you mentioned, will actually be rest of the world spec amber LED turn signals, fitted to differentiate between flashing brake lights. That conversion does look a bit cheap though.

The only thing I scratch my head about is the bowties... the rest makes perfect sense. Though it may be cheap and ugly, its a DOT requirement overseas.

Thumbs down

Reflectors are for Sissies... (and apparently, the Japanese).

I DO like the recessed bowtie in the front grille, though.

I think one of the required modifications was the physical size of the side-view mirrors, not just the addition of a turn signal/reflector.

I think it is. I would almost bet that is one of the reasons they're developing an overseas model that doesn't look so "afterthought".

Btw -- is there any way to tell if Chevy was responsible for this car, or an aftermarket seller? I'm curious, because I thought they hadn't entered foreign markets with the car, yet.

Now, word comes from General Motors Asia Pacific that the Bowtie's latest muscle car is a hit (of sorts) in Japan as well.
