Comparing it to a Prius? Well, then I don't know what you're complaining about because Prii are holy among cars.

Seriously, though;
GM proved to me that hyper-aerodynamic family cars can look good, too. Never expected that.

And I often wonder about this car, what would people's reaction to the design be if they had never seen the concept??

Hmm...take a look at a 2010 prius and you'll be thankful that GM didn't go that direction with the Volt...

Well i only have one thing to say, TESLA ROADSTER!!! seriously it has 1000 Foot pounds of torque! and is totally electric, and goes about 350 miles on a single charge! but it's 100k nearly, and it's a 2 seat super-car, and it's definitely in my plans for the future, i can go green and still run the 1/4 in 10 or less.

iirc....doesn't it die after under 250 miles? And isn't its speed limited to 135 mph?

speed limiters are easy to take care of, and I've seen both 250 and 350, depends on what you have turned on, a/c, lights, etc... I think the max you can go is right at 350 using nothing special, and something i saw said it'd top out at about 212 w/out the limiter, not exactly sure though.

hmm...that top speed would be something to investigate...as the thing only has two gears. Thanks for the clarification, though.

yeah, I wondered if it's true as well I think I'll research it and find out. but still the car is spectacular nonetheless. the Volt on the other hand is a better choice for a daily though. I've definitely consider the Volt, but I'm just not much for going green, not too worried about gas mileage and what-not.

Check this out:

1. The USA has HUGE reserves of coal that can be used in a CLEAN manner to produce electricity.

2. GM is already working with our power companies to assure the GRID is up to the additional task of charging loads of Volts.

3. Nuclear power plants are being built now to help provide additional electricity.

We could plug this thing in. The average commute is going to use ZERO gasoline. Electrical charging stations are being added NOW.
Simple plugs in parking lots. Either free, or with a 25 cent meter. That would mean charging the car at work, extending commuter range to 80 - 100 miles! With NO gas.

The engine extends range by charging the battery if necessary.

This vehicle is not only GM's savior, it is also the USA's by helping us reduce, and later stopping oil imports that drain our economy and allow tyrants to give orders and decide how our economy and country run,
by way of fluctuating fuel prices.

DO NOT be fooled by today's bargain gas prices, when they can squeeze us again they WILL. Time has shown us again and again...

Seems to me, gas prices soaring had a LOT, (not all) to do with our glorious US economy screeching to a HALT.

EDIT: The reason gas prices are down, is mainly because Americans drove a LOT less miles last quarter, good ole supply and demand.

Now, if we get enough Volts on the road to keep gas demand low, and/or lower, WE get low gas prices for our MUSCLE cars! Woo-Hoo. Volt me baby - for commuting.
