First impression of a 2014 ZL1

First off this opinion is coming from a Ford guy

I took this Camaro in on trade and when it arrived it had 107 original miles on the clock. I put 65 miles on it yesterday and this is the first time I've driven a Camaro.

Even though there were no miles on the clock I took it to Jiffy Lube to have the oil changed. There were 4 employees there and have never seen a ZL1 and cell phone cameras from all 4 employees were going off. You could see the envy in their eyes.

After leaving the business I was at a stop lite wanting to go left. The left arrow appeared and I made my turn, stepped on the gas a bit too much and the rear end spun out and did a 180 in the middle of a busy intersection. I thought SOB, this car does have some power.

From there I drove around town, went up to the mountains and was totally impressed with this GM product. GM got it right whereas Ford missed the mark on the GT500! What I mean by that GM got the styling perfect...front, rear and sides. One of the most aggressive front ends is the GT500 but they really missed the boat on the rear of the car. I don't know how the designers screwed up so bad but they did.

Styling, Comfort, power all wrapped up in one amazing factory hot rod. Only thing I was disappointed in is no CD player. I looked for 45 minutes for that phuckin CD player and came to the conclusion it didn't come with one.

I'm hooked guys. Offically I'm now on your team. Is there room for another ZL1 fan?

But here's the deal. I'm selling this car. Only reason to get a convertible ZL1. I think that would be the perfect hot rod. The car I'm selling still has the factory warranty. Couple pics.

2012 ZL1 has a CD player...but you have NAV. 2015 Z/28 has a CD player but a very lame radio.

I agree about a ZL1 convertible being the ultimate hot rod. No doubt it's on my list for the future.

Congrats and welcome. I am a car guy. Not a Chevy, ford, dodge, or import guy. 3/4 of the vehicles from all the brands I don't care for as they have zero personality. The ZL1 is a very balanced and well designed car. Not the fastest in a straight line (Stock) but corners unlike any other pony car, rides very smooth for a car that handles so well, has great brakes, and solid styling. You will enjoy the car a lot.

Welcome! Go for the vert I just traded my 14 SS vert for a 14 ZL1. Love it but remember you are going to give up a little performance and drag racing nannies with it but still a pretty all around nice car.

I think the CD player is right under your beer bottle.......lol

Taking a new ZL1 to Jiffy Lube was brave but to each their own I guess.

Congrats and enjoy the car.

I like my "lame radio" man! Screens are not my thing in a machine like the ZL1. I am with KaBoom on the whole Jiffy Lube deal. That is brave to say the least.

Corona lite. I looked there for a CD slot, didn't find it. Perfect place for a beer

My neighbor owns this JL. No problem there.

Agreed taking it to jiffy lube is a really really really bad idea. They are well known for crossthreading drain plugs, loose oil filters, improper fluids, charging for services not performed. My company insisted we take our fleet vehicles there, until I charged my company for an oil slick clean up left in my driveway when they reused an oil filter because they did not have the correct one. The invoice however had two items charged that they did not perform, one of which was the oil filter. The other item was the engine air filter which they never had, but it was invoiced also.

Think of it this way. At the dealer you ask for a ZL1 certified mechanic to work on the car, or walk away. Even for something as simple as an oil change.

Congrats on you new ride.

All hot rods....

BTW...I just noticed on my JL receipt they put on a Fram PH10060 oil filter. Not my first choice. Will speak with my neighbor/owner of the JL to get it replaced to a better brand. Never been a fan of fram.
