Aftermarket Hurst shifter can reuse the stock knob

as long as you install the other upper shifter portion not the billet one.

just had my hurst installed at my dealer, works great,no wobble,no play in between shifts, alot less throw than factory, and i used the factory knob, just do not care much for the chrome hurst stick, dont get me wrong, the chrome stick looks pretty good with the cue-ball by i kinda like the factory knob set up and not having the stick visable,

The Hurst is cool. I wish they had something for the automatic that looked like that.

The engineers took the Hurst shifter and "fiddled" with it to meet internal standards and requirements in order to sell it as Original Equipment. This resulted in....shall we say "compromises". (you'll notice some people comment on a wobble or looseness in the aftermarket unit...imagine dealing with that in warranty claims)

Personally...I feel like aftermarket shifters are TOO short. This is my own opinion for daily driving, now. A few options are adjustable, and the factory Hurst option seems is "just right". Shorter, crisper than the standard shifter, but not too short with that "aftermarket feel".

(Plus, I like the stock shift knob. The badge is a nice subtle touch.)

EDIT: I spent some time playing with it on the 2011 car GM brought to the Camaro5Fest. I definitely plan on ordering the option.

I measured the amount of play in the "wobble" today. It was a hair over 1 1/4 inches in the aftermarket Hurst shifter. I'm VERY Interested in feeling the GM Hurst shifter. I have a feeling I'll be switching out. Now, don't get me wrong...I LOVE the aftermarket Hurst. But, if there is an improved model?...that's a no brainer.

Billet/Plus Shifter Hurst

I just got mine put in and I absolutely LOVE IT! Easy as cake to install. It has made driving the car easier in my book. I have no wobbles and it is just as tight as the factory shifter and ALOT shorter throw. I love the solid mechanical feel. If you want it to feel a little softer, my kit came with an "anti vibration kit" to lessen the harmonics of the drivetrain. It also came with an optional shifter handle so you can reuse the factory shift knob and the install looks just like the factory without the Hurst chrome handle and white knob. I like the chrome one better. The shifter feels more comfortable especially where it stands a little taller than factory. The part number is 391 6030.
