whats with FORD - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

ok so i get the new motor trend yesterday and see this sweet ass GT 350 on the cover. im like nice a 5.0L supercharged shelby looks pretty badass. well as i read further into it they come out with this car to compete with the SS, because well there 4.6L 2009 stang is well a POS.... Its pushing ONLY 11HP more than a RS, and in my book the RS is short for really slow. Any how as i get done reading and check the price its 65000 dollars. come on man my ss was 42k with the biggest motor EVERY OPTION POSSABLE and a full body kit. these ford Flamers wana compete with us yet they show off there SHELBY thats 25k dollars more than my SS. Im tired of Found On Road Dead always trying to out do us with some special car because the camaro owns them. O well hopefully the Z28 will drop in 2011-2012 for about 55k, ill trade up and blow there faces off the road.

OK, pay attention, class in session:

RS = Rally Sport. This package is available on both the LT and SS Camaro.
The LT packs 300 HP and does 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. How is this really slow?
Also, the Shelby package is obviously going to be more expensive. It would be similar to buying an SLP Camaro.
As for you being 'tired' of Ford COMPETING with us? Well, if it weren't for Ford and competition, the Camaro would not be here.

wow, you hate to see this kind of ignorance on this cool of a forum. sounds like you should have gotten a Corvette or a Viper or something with a little more to the wheels to make. By the way how old are you?

yeah, I watched a few videos on youtube from motor trend TV. One video compared the GT500 with the SS and Challenger SRT8 because, as they said, Ford fanboys complained that their first test was unfair b/c they tested the 2010 4.6 GT against the SS. And to little surprise, the GT500, with its 540 HP engine, beat the SS. Of course, a 540 HP GT500 will beat 426 HP SS. What a crock test.

The Shelby GT350 IS NOT A FACTORY FORD AND IS NOT COMPETITION FOR THE FACTORY CAMARO....compare it to Ligenfelter, Hennessy, Tom Henry Racing, or the others.

The GT350 is being built to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Gt500. You have to order the mustang GT with the correct package in order for shelby american to accept it into the program. They then make it a GT350. This car is for the mustang nut that wants a modern version of the GT350. It's not built to compete with camaro.

Ford already has a car that beats the camaro ( although by a small margin) It's called the GT500 ,and It can be bought for about $46,000 to $48,000 so not far off if you paid $42,000. You need to do more research before you blow off about something you clearly know nothing about.

There have been comparisons between a Shelby Mustang and a Hennessey Camaro. If I remember correctly the Hennessey won narrowly, the difference being that only the Hennessey had good enough tires to handle the power.

Oh, sure, $6,000 means nothing, right? That's only the same price jump as you have between V6 and V8, so clearly it's trivial.
