I just don't get it. For all the money and especially the time involved in doing just the bearing upgrade, why not get a complete set of aftermarket trunions? I looked at the price of both and no way am I ever going to do just the upgrade.

Edit: Also, we really have no way of knowing if the snap rings were abused during the install.

Gotcha! Reason I ask is because I emailed YT about their max spring pressures and they said 420 lbs is the max. Make sure you check how much those spring pressures of yours are. Just FYI bud.

The heads I have will only work with stock style rockers due to the offset mounting pads. Springs are also almost 500 lbs open, so a lightweight LS7 rocker is the best option I have. (not heavy aluminum aftermarket). I still believe the trunion upgrade is good, and necessary, but am disappointed in the failure of these clips.

Contact Comp, they might send you a new set of the clips. They probably want to make this right so they can sweep this under the rug.

That was the first thing I did. I'm not here to bash their product, I think it is outstanding for the price, just have an issue with the clips, and people should be aware and doublecheck the ones they have installed. IMO they should be thicker, A LA the summit knockoff.

The clip is just a backup for the bearings. Although not good to find, I don't think this would cause a failure since the bearings are pressed in

Correct. The rocker was still functioning normally. Over time its possible that motion could work the bearing out.

I have an idea. Junk the stock rocker arms all together, including all "Trunion Upgrades"
If you want a real rocker arm upgrade, get a new real rocker arm. Perhaps contact Jesel, or Scorpion...

I've had mine installed for over a year with no issues. I've also been using snap rings on various applications over the last 20 yrs and I've never seen one break

It could be possible that it wasnt installed properly or seated properly or maybe even "overstretched" with the snap ring pliers upon install. Also there is no pressure applied to those snap-rings unless the rocker arm "walks" to one side for whatever reason but it shouldnt move once its pressed in.

Maybe the bore in the rocker arm is just a tad bit too big thats why it moved. The snap ring is only there as a fail safe and doesnt really hold anything in place

Comp responded, and is sending out a brand new trunion kit. Good on them to step up
