pros and cons. race fuel, meth or e85.

i would prefer just getting a few drums and running race fuel. its a street driven car i just woukd feel safer gaining a little more from race fuel. my concerns are what will it do to the fuel system if it sets in the car. ive heard amazing things about meth and horror stories. never messed with e85. just looking for some input on benefits and cons of these and which one i should go with.

E85 definitely cheaper and still 105 - 110 octane roughly

*Race Pro:
Higher octane for more timing and power
*Race Con:
Cost
Limited “shelf life”
Additional tune necessary when running if you’re a street car too

*Meth Pro:
Cooler IAT so no timing pulled
Safety margin for FI tune
*Meth Con:
If tune for more power on meth, if fails, could result in detonation
Tank to maintain
Corrosive to blower rotors (or am I thinking nitrous?)

*E85 Pro:
Cost
With FF sensor, car adjusts additional timing with good tune
Camaro fuel system compatible so not corrosive
Motor runs cooler (valve temps - not ECT or IATs though)
*E85 Con:
Availability
Requires fuel system (pump, injectors) for the 30% more fuel required

Got it down pack and yes the meth part eats the supercharger blade coating over time

ive read meth pits blowers, id like to strictly run 100 or 105. i can get street blaze, ms109 and 260gt and gt plus by the drum fairly cheap. so that elinates meth. ican also get e85. my biggest concern is eating up my fuel system while it sits idle for a week or two when im out of town. and i do have a fore innov. dual pump return system with id1050x injectors.

I agree with this, but will go on to say that if you have E85 available and either already have or can invest in a robust fuel system, it is the way to go. Flex fuel allows you to run any % of ethanol you want. Mix it with race gas at the track if you want. It is a gift from the race gods.

im gonna do the E85 conversion on my car. gonna do a ZL1 pump and LSA injectors. I daily drive it so race gas wouldn't be too practical

This has been debated at Nasium with very different opinions. Do some research on current users and mileage they have run Meth with blowers. I’m running it and did a ton of research prior. I moved forward with my decision based on my research. Very happy with my choice..

set aside race fuel cost, if i just run race fuel will i have to worry about it corroding thibgs when fuel sits in it for a week or two

Drek broke it down pretty good! Some initial cost for going with E85 to upgrade fuel system, but if it is available in your area it is sooo nice to pull up to a pump and pay ~ $2.50 per gallon for race fuel.

Dang! I've been bitching about $2.09 a gallon as I was paying $1.69 last year. I guess that's not bad at all for "race gas" with 104-ish octane.

So you don't spend money twice, I suggest you go with the V pumps, a Vaporworx controller, a JMS booster and either ID 850 or 1050 injectors. A ZL1 pump and LSA injectors won't do much of anything on E85.

I have been spraying Meth since 2011 pre Maggie although its not my daily and only 25k miles on car since Meth install just had it retuned for bigger meth nozzle and made 30 hp more than original dyno in 2011, It does not seem to have done any harm, Make sure you get NPT stainless line and not push to connect crap that leaks
