to funny....I rewound the yellow 04 getting sliced 3 times last night.

He can blow it out his ass. he does not realise that the SS is for the colectors and enthusests and the V6 is for the economist. But he sayes the SS is to high on price. Correct me if I am wrong but did GM sell right under 3,000 Camaros in three days.

IT'S POSSIBLE FOR large numbers of under-35s to buy a new Mustang GT. They can - and they do. But a $35k Camaro is a car for the over-40s and those guys (if they have the money) tend to want something more age-appropriate. A BMW 3-Series or Infiniti G, for instance.

Or they have kids -- and have to have four doors.

The base Camaro, meanwhile, is almost as badly gimped from the get-go as its SS big brother. GM chubbs up about the fact that the base V-6 Camaro will have as much rated hp (300) as the V-8 powered Mustang. That is indeed impressive. But GM forgets that high-horsepower is not a priority for people who buy the base versions of cars like Camaro -- and Mustang.

Age appropriate? I'm 51 and a BMW or Infiniti is NOT appropriate for me.

Badly gimped? WTF?

Clearly, a case of YELLOW JOURNALISM.

Some of the stuff makes sense. But I still disagree about price in some cases.

He makes the point that the base car is 31k and the base GT Mustang is 27k and the price is negotiable. I'm pretty sure the base GT starts closer to 28k and while perhaps that's negotiable, when the car first hit the dealers, it was gouged just like the camaro will be.

And he doesn't know what the V6 Mustang does in fuel economy or horsepower and clearly doesn't know how well the Camaro is expected to do in fuel economy.

I beg to differ..I have little ones that do, at times, need to travel with me and two adult women that often do. I've told them they'll have to fight over the front seat and the rear person better sit behind her as I'm 6'3

3,000 is nothing...GM is always late to the table....they don't led they follow the market
and once again they are chasing the Mustang.....And ford did it with 281 ci at 300hp and 320 fpt bone stock @ $27,000.....with a few $$ you can make these cars very fast....I was once a diehard Chevy fan,but in 1980 ford took over...I've had my but waxed time after time by a mustang and im not talking stock by no means....The new camaro is a very good looking car if not the best looking,i don't wont a v-6 and at 31,000 for a base ss !!! What gives ?

I'll tell you what gives.
QUALITY
not everyone races their cars and people want them to last for a long time. And as far as racing them I'm sure these cars will be able to take mods just fine.
(This is the part where someone like headpunter or camarospike jump in)

I'll be in the minority here and say that he had a fair point.

I think it would have been a smarter move to have fewer options standard and a lower MSRP than the route that GM has taken. You only have to look at Mustang sales figures for the past few years to see that the average buyer isn't discerning enough to care about HP differences, quality imbalances, or various suspension systems. They want something reasonably quick, hot looking, and as cheap as possible. Even though the Camaro will outperform the Mustang in practically every area, it won't beat it in the most important category to your avg consumer: price.
