1 7/8" or 2" headers?

I am looking to put some Kooks headers on my 2012 ZL1. Should I go 2" or 1 7/8" and what are the advantages over one vs the other? The only other mods I see would be a pulley since I will need a tune with headers anyway. A cam would be way down the road. Prob just a Corsa exhaust or something 6 months after the headers.

I planned on Pfadt Tri-y before they pulled the plug. Should I wait for those to come back?

Are there any installations issues with the Kooks for clearance? I seem to recall some having issues with the headers clearing the steering or something?

Thanks

Search the forum threads. Plenty of threads on this. I was in your shoes months ago before my ARH.

Depending on your time frame, afe power is building the pFadt headers. They only have Corvette versions on their site, but I know there was a thread about them making the Camaro ones also.

I saw that! Nice!

Were the Tri-y's 1 7/8 or 2 inch primary?

Based on my research and the extensive testing that JRE did (which is posted in this forum). The 2" is an excellent choice with almost no drawbacks, especially on a ZL1.

EDIT: Found the Link to JRE Testing

I am direct with AFE as soon as they are available we will have them.

Last I checked they said possibly first quarter of 2015 tentatively sorry to be so vague.

I went with 2". No regrets.

Those who say you lose torque are full of it.

if I would have bought a premium higher priced header I would have went 2". that being said this is one of those topics that gets over thought IMO they both will work fairly well.

To my knowledge kooks fit perfect, my stainless power fit perfect, Arh fit perfect.

if you really wanted phadt you may want to wait for the new production but you will be getting the first lot which can be a tad bit of a ristk. in all honestly I think you going to find most poeple are happy with any of the top three or 4 brands of headrs or CAI. there perfromance is just too similar and cars go fast with all of them.

you can find threads debating them but there are just mor than 1 good option out there and I am not sure you can go wrong with any of the big names. my buddy has ARH, I have stainless power neither one of us have any complaints.
