JANNETTY RACING HEADER TEST RESULTS

First let me say Thanks to Nick American Racing Headers for building us all 3 size headers, cat converters and test pipes, and related hardware.

Just to keep things Fair I Purchased these Headers for the Test.

Our Test Car is none other than, Bigdogs LS3 Camaro used in our CAI test.
This Car is 100% Stock other than the Headers installed for the Testing.

Stock Peak Numbers 373 RWHP 378 RWTQ
Stock Average Numbers I will post tomorow Forgot to print them.

1.75 long tube headers w high flow cats Peak 401.1 HP 403.8 TQ
1.75 long tube headers w high flow cats Average 281.2 HP 363.9 TQ

1.875 long tube headers w high flow cats Peak 406.8 HP 407.5 TQ
1.875 long tube headers w high flow cats Average 283.7 HP 366.6 TQ

2.0 long tube headers w high flow cats Peak 411.7 HP 408.9 TQ
2.0 long tube headers w high flow cats Average 288.1 HP 368.1 TQ

The 1 3/4 Headers did Surprisingly well.
The 1 7/8 Headers IMO are the best all around header.
The 2.0 Headers are neck and neck with the 1 7/8 but Slightly stronger from 5000 to 6300

In an all out racing application they would be worth the extra investment.

So Now it is up to you to choose what best fits your application.

Anybody want to buy some good used Headers

Some interesting tid bits of informations, the A/F ratios were unaffected by the headers or the header size changes, Ranged from 11.7 -12.3 through the pull, the fuel trims also remained constant from size to size.

We also Tested NO CATS and Guess What NO HP GAIN COULD BE MEASURED, ok I lied, 1 HP somwhere in the middle of the run, I think I farted near the air filter

All Kidding aside these cats flow like straight pipe.

And the Headers with High flow cats, Sound with the Factory Exhaust, Music to my Ears.

Here are the Graphs overlayed.

Thanks for all your hard work. I would be interested in the 1 7/8 AR headers with cats if you really want to sell them. You can pm price.

What about the shorties? Even if borla is the only ones to give you a set you owe it to them to at least give them a test run.

Thanks for doing this!

Any chance you have a sound clip from the dyno? ARH with factory catback is a combo I haven't heard.

That sure is an ugly tq dip on the stock set up 2500 - 3500.

Did you use an ARH X - pipe? Or all stock after the high flow cats?

Thanks for doing all this!

Ted,

I don't understand how the 1 7/8 is "best all around header" in your opinion if the 2" headers had better average and peak numbers. Could you please explain? Thanks.

The car is stock, sure the 2'' would be the way to go if the car was FI and making over 700hp...

All around best header stock/FI looks to be the 1 7/8...this test made up my mind...going to get 1 7/8 kooks now...

A few Reasons, the additional cost does not justify the gains.
They are a Tighter fit.
They are Heavier
Most manufacturers offer a 1 7/8 headers so they are easier to get.
The biggest gains from headers are in the middle of the curve where you drive most and you can't tell the difference between 1 7/8 and 2 inch, on the dyno graph or in the car.

Unless your Racing you won't miss the 5 HP at 6300 RPM, your not there enough to use it on the street.

Hope this Helps.
