Anyone move the IAT on a L99?
Anyone move the IAT on a L99?
If so what were your results? We used to do them on the LS1 and it made a good difference. I did a search and only found where the V6 guys are doing it. |

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Not sure why it has not caught on for the V8, but Vector Motorsports sell a plug and play harness for this mod.

Intake air temperature. Here is a link to the mod on Vector's site with some info about the mod and what it does.

Yep, called them and was told they do not have one yet for the new Camaro. I can make my own for about $25.00, just curious if anyone had already done one and if they got similar gain to what we got on the LS1. Last edited by YLWJKT; 06-01-2010 at 02:31 PM. |

How do you make one? Where do you get an aftermarket sensor? I'm actually interested because the only thing I hate about my SS is how much dam timing the thing pulls when the IAT temps are up. Living here in south florida I can only get full power out of my car a handfull of weeks out of the year when temps are low. And like mentioned above for some unknown reason the L99 is affected HORRIBLY by IAT temps, worse than any car ever built...I guarentee it!

That timing gets pulled for a reason... Just because you aren't knocking doesn't mean you're at max brake torque. I typically leave that IAT table alone unless I really have the opportunity to tweak it for MBT (which is rare). One problem with IAT breakout kits is that the new intake temperature sensor may not actually match the temperature calibration in the PCM. You can modify the reported temperature based on resistance in the PCM. I don't know how close the breakout IAT sensors match the factory calibration, but there's not really much purpose for doing them. If you want to actually do something productive, insulate the MAF housing. The IAT sensor is built into your MAF, and will actually cool down pretty quick when there is air moving over it.
If you want to help your heat soak situation, then in addition to insulating your MAF housing, find a way to get lots of fresh, outside air to your air filter. Just because you relocate your IAT sensor doesn't mean you're suddenly not pulling in 150º F engine bay air. Last edited by DSteck; 06-03-2010 at 03:47 PM. |

It's been a long day. /facepalm
I meant to say... Just because it's not knocking does not mean you are at max brake torque... In other words, throwing a ton of timing at it (or just running full timing with really hot air) and seeing no knock does not mean you're making the best possible power. |

I got the ADM RACE COLD AIR INTAKE on my L99 it has a internal IAT sensor and WOW can you feel the Power especially when it climbs from 50 to 90 WOW.
It's ashamed Jenetty racing didnt test it against the others otherwise it would have been #1 internal IAT sensor inside the Cold air box = contstant cooler temps = more POWER Video on how ADM's internal IAT works http://www.admperformance.com/produc...=58&product=92 |

At what temperature does the ECM start pulling timing. I heard it was at 88*F (31*C), is this true?
