But then, there was only ONE real SUPERCAR!!! (although it appears it's running a bit rich from the exhaust stains on the wall. His tuner sucks)

love the car but supercar it is not. ferrari 458, macleran MP4-12C stuff like that is a supercar.

ZR1 is not even a supercar it just offers supercar performance.

supercars are not built off of other platforms. they just are supercars period. the ford GT was a supercar for example IMO. the new GT500 offers supecar perfromance in some ways but is not one.

the viper and the GTR are debatable. they are one platform only, perfrom well, not many made.

people will say there is no deffintion and they are right but still if you can go buy an economy version of it not a supercar in my book.
If the C6 ZR1 is not a supercar then I don't know what is...

I own both a modded SS and a ZL1, as well as owning a few M BMWs. I don't consider my ZL1 a "supercar", but I do consider it in the realm of some of the exotics. The ZL1 is a factory "exotic" with a limited production. So by this definition, it really depends on who you are talking to. I enjoy my finely tuned stock production car that is very capable in the road, the strip, and the track, and there are plenty of numbers out there that back up this statement.
I do fairly well for myself in the middle class segment of the US, and I can afford my ZL1, as where many others are slightly envious because they can not afford it. I don't hate them nor try to push them down. I was in the same class a few years ago, and I understand wanting and not being able to afford. Just my 2¢.

it is supercar performance and then some for sure for sure. I still don't consider it a super car. they are friggen handfull though.

The odd thing about the C6 Z06 and ZR1 is there spaceframe is unique to them, they have carbon fiber parts etc. then the interior ripped right off from the base model. my favorite was the centenial ZR1 with a 3k carbon fiber roof and vinyl stickers over the top of it haha. supercars should never have vinyl.

when you own one of the two though most people have no idea what the difference is between the base model and that.

when you pull up in 458, LFA, MP4-12c, aventedor, zona, veron etc. there is not a 45k version that people think you have ha ha.

what I love about the vett's though is they rival cars listed above in speed and are atainable. if I did not have young children that is the car I would be driving right now. I could have bought a 2009 for 70k even though it was not as driver friendly as my Zl1 is by a long shot. I need at leat 100hp more at the wheels to rival the pull that car had though.

Uhhh...that'll be a negative. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble.

Here's Wikipedia's definition of a supercar. Not saying this is the end all, be all for what a supercar really is, but this seems pretty much descriptive.

A supercar is a very expensive and fast sports car.Supercars are marketed by automakers as unusual and include limited production specials from an "elite" automaker, standard-looking cars modified for power and performance, as well as models that appeal to enthusiasts from smaller manufacturers.
"Supercar" is also a label custom car retrofitters reserve for their showcase, one-of-a-kind project vehicles; typically these are very extensively modified collectible muscle cars, sports cars or grand touring automobiles updated to the very latest "streetable" racing technology.

Was I just told I can't afford a ZL1?

Uhh...quoting wiki is like quoting the crackhead down at the corner. Sorry, your wiki definitions are simply made up by someone else. Historically, it is incorrect.

I'll put my modded SS up against any ZL1 owner in this conversation! It'll be in Texas in less than 2 weeks for The Mile. Jess Rayo has the most modded car on this forum. What do you say Jess? They're both built by Andy, could be fun. Lets put this conversation to rest.

I bought & am currently building a ZL1, my SS is for sale. The ZL1 is not a supercar, people can't tell the difference between it & a V6 unless they're parked side by side. Supercars don't have inexpensive look alikes. I think they're awesome cars, but some of you think your shit don't stink because you own one, relax, enjoy, have fun with whatever you can afford. Somewhere there are a ton of Ferrari owners laughing at us rednecks with our Camaro's.
