So I have a Z/28 CAI, Kooks 1 7/8 (Ceramic Coated inside and out), NGK Plugs (possibly not needed but runs good), Taylor 409 Wires (Mainly Color matching, I know vane). Car Ran a 400+ HP and TQ with a AFR of 12.3 on a Mustang Dyno. Can't Compare other intakes without purchasing them. Happy with what I have car runs great, have had the intake in the car for about 1.5 years now.

pretty sure that a roto-fab is much the same. I had one on my 2011 2SSRS.

The Roto-fab is sub par. It uses a metal "heat-shield" that actual rubs on the lines coming from the radiator. There is no provision for the change in the neg. cable on the drivers front on the 2013-2015 cars. The housing for the IAT was molded in 2 parts and the tools do not line up. The parting line is very visible and they grind it down by hand. The GM Z/28 intake is exactly what you would expect from and OEM, Fit and finish is great. There are no interference issues (clearance) and it bolts in 15 minutes with out the need to re-route of make any modifications. It has also been through durability and validation testing which no aftermarket supplier is subject to. Very different parts! -Matt

This Z28 CAI is on my mind as a potential modification. For those that have already done an installation, are there at least some ways to install the Z28 CAI kit on the LS3 that would allow for the reinstallation of the original LS3 CAI, and also does not require drilling, etc. that would become permanent modifications to the car? While I look forward to your answers, I do want to acknowledge the installation by the owner who had the ingenuity to dream up the grommet screwed into the throttle body idea, and the skill to actually pull it off.
I do have a 1LE with the factory oil separator. Factory oil separator is not currently installed. If I do put it back on, I want a way to easily and quickly remove it, even if I did install the Z28 CAI. Thanks in advance for your replies. |

I'm the OP and I don't remember if I even came back to this thread since the very beginning! LOL I was just reading through the posts, and I really like what I've seen. A special thanks to CreeperRS for getting solid dyno numbers on the intake. Everything I've read about the changes are the same that I experienced (whooshing sound, better response, and a stronger pull at higher RPM's). I was just looking for info anyone found on the replacement filter and stumbled back on this. Thanks everyone!

I guess it’s been 2 years since I installed my z/28 intake. Never so much as a hiccup!

I installed my Z-28 CAI tonight. I took her for a drive and at one point hit the gas pretty hard. Around 4-5k RPM’s it opened up and roared! Very satisfied. Easy install. I ordered from Summit Racing. I have to call them as I did not get a new MAF sensor with it??????
