Don't worry Norm. You will be fine at intermediate. Novice can be very slow at CGI sometimes.

Hope to see you there.

level of enjoyment is dependent upon an accurate choice of run group.
Thanks for the info.

Separate question, does CGI require any specific race gear other than an acceptable helmet or have any other clothing requirements such as no short sleeved shirts?

There's a fair chance, though 700+ miles is more than I'd want to do in a single day never mind still be fresh for my sessions bright and early the next day.

As much as I want to see how my car and I measure up, I wouldn't want to be crowding anybody else out before being able to fully commit to it. Anybody know how long registration will remain open?.

Registration will be open until the track day fills up. As far as I know, our "chunk" reserved for 25 Camaro5 members will stay open until it fills up, as well. We're all flexible, though, so if we only have (for example) 10 Camaros in the middle of July, and other people want to get into the event, we'll open it up. Or vis versa.

Also - closed-toe shoes....SA-certified Helmet...but I don't believe there are any pants/shorts regulations. I'll check on that, as well.

So technically, how many cars would be on the track at one time? 8-10?

Thanks again, Mr. W. Closed toe shoes I'd fully expected.

It really depends on the amount of people in a given run group. Say 35 people total are at the event...in my experience, the split looks something like this: 8 of them will be in the advanced group, 15 will be in the intermediate group, and 12 will be in the beginner group.

The track crew takes special care to make sure the cars are adequately spaced apart from one another in each group for safety. If passing becomes an option (say you speed up and catch someone ahead of you) the rules vary per run-group.

Norm
Norm,

CGI operates as follows regarding clothing:
  • Closed-toed shoes...they recommend thin-soled shoes if you have them. Stay away from heels of any kind, if you can.
  • They prefer long pants, but they are flexible in this respect if the weather at the time dictates shorts.
  • Ladies, no skirts allowed
  • Must be wearing a shirt.

I do believe I will be going to this. I would run Intermediate. Are non-instructor passengers aloud? The plan was to team of first with some one who knows the line to get my bearings and then to have my wife ride in the runs following.
