Couldn't tell ya to much between the two...but I'd get the 06 w/ the LS2 over the LS1 any day. I hear it's comfy as hell, but weighs a ton.

I have an '05 Monaro VXR (it's an LS2 and the nose is different to yours). It IS heavy and a little too big for our roads - only god knows what the Camaro will be like (sorry, I'm in the UK).
I love it though. It's comfy and quick and drinks like a fish

I'm sure that there will be an equivelent Camaro that is lighter, more powerful and more agile. And possibly better milage too.

Did someone call? :p
The first thing I'd recommend you do is go on over to LS2GTO.com and read the posts about issues people have with the Goat in the GTO Tech forum http://ls2gto.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=3 The next step would be to get in one for a test drive. I'm not sure what you want from this car. Are you a track guy looking for respectable times? Do you want a vehicle with muscle and comfortable interior appointments? I'm fairly certain that you're not considering the GTO for its looks! I like the fact that my Goat is a sleeper - I generally don't get hassled because it gets mistaken for a Cavalier or G6. When I do get called out, I enjoy the surprise generated by blowing off someone's doors. She's a heavy pig, but also nimble and quick. I canyon carve, so I REALLY like that it has IRS. The IRS is perfect for slamming around the twisties at high velocity (you didn't hear me say that, Tag). I like this car so much that I will not trade it for a 5th gen 'Maro. Rather, I'll take one of each, please! I strongly believe that you need to drive one of these beasts to find out if you really want one. And, really, stay away from the '04s - they've only got the LS1 (poor lil' things)

I recommend the LS2 powered ones, too, having tuned one and loved the way it turned out... all we did was remove the torque management (the manual transmission LS2 cars actually have TM, too), changed CAGS, changed the fan temps and leaned the car out 2%... talk about a wild ride!

There was another guy on another site I used to visit who sold his 4th Gen SS for a Goat. He was very happy w/ the trade into the more comfortable GTO. He really liked the interior that much more. But, and I recall his chief complaint being, that the car weighed a lot. Sure, you have more power w/ the LS2. But, it won't make a difference compared to a 4th Gen if you add a few hundred more pounds right off the bat....or probably more than that. |

oh man i want a goat soooo bad. let me tell you, i've test drove like 4 of them and you will not be disappointed. some people complain of minor body roll, but i don't think it's too bad. the power is unreal. i've been in a ls6 vette, and it's a close race, but i think the goat takes it. as for comfort, you'll never find anything better except maybe a cadilac! as for looks, it's a sleeper but with a sports appearance grill and front bumper(the rear package looks stupid) it'll look hot. the sound system ain't bad. i'm keeping my eyes out for an 06 black/red m6 18's with low miles!
