YOU'RE right! I forgot about Darin's post on the proper engine breakin which me myself have followed. I must add, it's a lot of fun!

Also remember that's an average MPG. If you reset your average speed and your average MPG you see better numbers. Driving the $h!t out of it though, 17 is about right, lol.

I've never seen more than 23 MPG on mine, but I do a lot of town driving.

But ain't it cool you can drive like a giddy kid and still get those numbers? Remember when driving a muscle car you would turn about 7 MPG, or 5? Less? Okay, now I showed my age.

yes I remember that . . . my 442 got about 6 MPG driving it easy, I think it was gallons per mile when the 4-barrell was moaning

khabboub, is not the car. it's your crash coarse on your new ride. In time you will learn the proper shifting to get the best fuel economy and you will go back driving like an excited 12 year old boy again.

Like Lbness said, listen to the engine. When not accelerating I try to keep the RPMs around 2000. Sometimes I'll skip from 2 to 4 to 6 if the RPMs and speed are high enough.
ewynn9, when you say you do a lot of highway driving, how much is that? I'm a medical salesman and i'm on the highway / interstate around 30,000 miles a year. ( I know, camaro is the least practical vehicle for me, but what can i say, i'm in love) But i would love a similar highway drivers real estimate on hwy MPG before i sign on the dotted line,

Thanks

Thanks
also, do you have the manual or automatic transmission?

(yes I know the original thread was for manual owners, but just checking)

it seems the automatic might get substantially better mileage than the manual . . . I did my own short test with a rented automatic 1LT, and I got 26 MPG measured average, close to 20 in heavy stop-and-go city driving, and a little over 30 according to the computer on a simulated commute (about 1/2 freeway, 1/2 country roads) . . . so I am a little surprised to see all these reports of mid-low twenties with the manual transmission
