Don't bother with coated headers. They are intended to keep the heat in the pipe so that you don't heat soak the engine and the hotter the molecules are the faster they move. But the difference in the performance you get isn't worth the coating costs.
The only time this "could" be beneficial is when you have a top mounted intercooler on a turbo application and the heat from the headers helps to spool the tubine and keep the intercooler from heat soaking which at a stop. But its still debatable |

Get something that's stainless to begin with. Coating can be nice because it improves the look of the headers (they will change color and look nasty over time) but also allows them to cool off a LOT faster, which is nice if you're changing plugs or have to fish around in the engine bay for some reason.

It isn't really needed as stated above. I have non-coated now and my last car I had non-coated originally. I ended up coating them because I needed to have the collectors welded. I basically coated them to look nice.

Or you could do both, ceramic coat the stainless,That's what I did. I wanted it to look good, and not have any corrosion problem,as I've had in the past with mild steel tubing that was coated by a well known vender that I want mention

Coating is primarily to prevent heat soak in the engine compartment and then cosmetic secondary (not many people look under you car when you show it off).
I have coated and think it is the way to go. Stainless would not necessarily be faster. |

I like stainless steel. It wont rust or peel like some ceramic coating does. I have the american racing headers which are stainless steel and they look great.

If you are worried about heat soak, especially with a supercharger, you can coat the headers or use wrap. Heat soak on a supercharger does make a difference.

Again there is no real HP gain from coated anything. It is so minimal if at all that you will never feel the difference. Unless you are running FI on the car it is like burning your hard earned money.
If you really want the looks for whatever reason then go for it but thats all it is going to do for you, so make sure you open the hood and lay down next to the car to get a good look at those coated headers often so you get your money's worth |

+1, heatsoak on the the maggies are awful. Ive seen so many inconsistent pulls with heatsoak taking over that I do everything I can to prevent this. Coated kooks + meth for me to help this. And im not exactly in a hot location, San Francisco

Ceramic Coated Stainless is the BEST.
Ceramic coating mild steel just delays the inevitable RUST, it will happen sooner or later. Ted.
