Can we expect a spec bump?

I was in target earlier and i happened upon an article about the new 5.0 mustang. It listed HP at 416 (A 100HP increase for the arithmeticly challenged). This got me all kinds of excited to think what kind of spec bump the next camaro ss will have in order to stay competitive dominate in the market.

why so "cup half empty"?

The current iteration of the mudstang GT is already competetive with the SS. So it stands to reason The SS will have to remain competetive in future forms if it hopes to remain relevant... Exactly what the Ford is doing now. Endlessly chasing each other into the abyss

I heard from my grandmother's hairdresser, that his dentist was brother-in-law to the father of a Camaro engineer and the Camaro engineer said that 2011 models will have 526HP and a reduction of weight of about 186lbs. It's true.

As soon as sales slow...you'll see the next model year get a "freshening" of the body or interior and a little bump in HP. I'm guessing you'll see the '12's get a hp bump.

Probably should read the other threads about this.

Don't care how much HP a Mustang has, it is still not as hot as a Camaro

LS3 has 426hp, mustang has 412hp, Camaro does not need to change anything, Camaro rules

I would not count on it.

Mustang is lighter than Camaro so it might be faster, however GM currently does not have the R&D funds that Ford has. After all Ford only made a $2b profit last year while GM just started to pay back the money they owe the tax payers.

The Camaro won't need much in the way of engine to stay competitive. On paper...a salesman can still very easily sell a Camaro thanks to more hp and torque.

There are....other things they can do.

Regardless -- we can all rest 100% assured, they will not settle for #2 in this segment. Camaro will be improved upon in the areas it needs it to stay class-leading.

It's nice that a HP war has broke out, but NA motors aren't gonna put much more out and be warrantyable (i think I just made up a word) and affordable.
