Borla S type or SLP Loudmouth 2 axle back???

I'm very confused what system to get. Here's where I stand. The Borla is a few bucks more which is no big deal. I like the tips on the SLP much more but what I am hung up on is the fact that each side is three pieces instead of one piece welded like the Borla. I keep thinking with all those clamps the SLP is going to get loose and raddle. help me outguys so I can pull the trigger. Your thoughts please?

Hey, my car is the same as yours! I have the ground effects and plan on running the Borla Stinger catback without tips. That being said, I also have the SLP Powerflow on our G8, and it sounds awesome.

Some things to think about...
  • The mufflers on both are similar, straight through perforated core designs. They WILL sound similar.
  • The Borla exhaust is 304 stainless, where the SLP one is 409 stainless. Both will not rust though, but 409 can develop surface rust, where 304 will not
  • In terms of one piece vs. three piece, each has it's pros and cons. A one piece system is easier to install, but I have also had one piece exhausts just not fit right. When I say that, I mean I could never get the tips lined up..no matter how hard a tried. This is likely caused by either some kind of variance in the original car they prototyped with, or something with your stock exhaust. With the 3 piece system...it is not as akward to install because the parts are smaller, and you can kind of build the system on the car. Also, you have lots of ajustability, and can almost always get it looking perfect without having to mess with anything up stream. The downside is..it does take a little longer to mess with. Like I said though..I have the SLP Powerflo on my G8 GXP, and I have had no issues with leaks or the tips moving.

I'm not sure where you are getting that the Borla system is a one-piece welded system?? It has to be assembled. The system fits the car extremely well.

Now when they took out the stock exhaust- that was all one-piece welded. It was fun getting it home.

You cannot go wrong with either product. I would say you will certainly be happy with either one of them.

As another said, you can go ahead and weld the SLP so you do not have the clamps...that is what I did with my powerflo.

If you need more info, or want to get your hands on one...let me know, i would be happy to help.

I have the GFX also and have been looking at both companies and I'm undecided which way to go. I've had a complete Borla exhaust from the headers to tailpipes on a 72' Chevelle and I loved how they sound. If you get a chance to take a few pics after you get them on please PM me with them so I can see how the Borla's turn out for you.

Thanks,
Craig

I like the way they both sound I just don't like the tips nearly as much as the SLP's. But, I do like the Borla's one piece system.

I don't think you realize what system's I am reffering to. If you look up the Borla S type"axle back" and compare it to the slp loudmouth 2 you will see what I mean.
