Engine options??
So long story short, my bolt on mods lsa grenaded on me. After pulling the plugs I found multiple signs of internal damage and piston contact with what I can only assume is valves. Ran a scope in a couple of cylinders and the the piston tops also show severe damage. In other words, she's complete rebuild time.
What I've got into it so far : -CAI -Cat delete, ceramic coated Kooks -102mm throttle body -Ported blower inlet -Upper/Lower pulley swap -85lb injectors -Boost a pump -Dual fan oversized intercooler -160 thermo -Dyno tune All my add ons are good to go. My plans are to completely do the internals now granted the block is ok. Crank, heads, rods, pistons and cam. Then throw all my other bolt ons back in again. Obviously not replacing the stock internals with OEM but was going with lingenfelter forged parts. Essentially make it bullet proof. My question is if given this situation would anyone just consider doing a complete engine swap? Say an LSX or is the LSA considered a worthy enough engine to be dumping another 15k into? Would like to shoot for ~850ish RWHP. Don't wanna discuss what happened or why it happened that it blew up, just want some other ideas and opinions from guys on here who have some more insight into this type of situation. Thanks in advance.

The LSA block has thicker cylinder walls for boosted applications.
Do you know yet if the block is damaged?

I've read that the LSX 376 crate engine would be the best small block engine you can buy in terms of LS motors. A lot of swapped TT, Single Turbo, Procharger cars out running with that block and seem to all have over 900whp easy
And for 12k you can get a complete drop in LSX376 ready to go..

Been there, done that. I went LSX 376 B15. ADM did the work and had a thread about it a couple of months ago.

Not sure yet. Externally...looks fine. That being said the coolant all dumped into the pan and into one of the cylinders so....Fingers crossed it's a head and not a rod through the cylinder wall.

Engine options??
How much power were you making? What mods?
Was it the tune?? I haven't heard of too many blown engines who just bolt ons.

Mods are listed above. 625rwhp 665tq. I don't know if it was the tune or not. It was back in for a couple of retunes before it went but I don't wanna point any fingers at any shop. Although this was the first ZL1 they had worked on, they've tuned a many CTSV with great success. So hopefully it wasn't.

850rw is a lofty goal. Not many cars running around with that kinda power. Build a 417 with your LSA block if your reusing the blower. You'll need a complete fuel system to get there. If you go LSX it will handle any bigger plans you might have in the future.
