500HP?
So GM is rating the Z28 at 500HP. Doesn't that seem low? I would guess that with the edition of a factory CAI and CNC's heads it would be closer to 530-540...or am I way off?

They said 550 estimate when the zl1 was unveiled. Ended up being 580

They are saying at LEAST 500 HP. They said at LEAST 550 HP for ZL1

Well we know in the Covette it's 505.
The hope, if there is any, is that Camaro intake and exhaust breath better than the Corvette. But I also doubt GM would spend the money to go recertify it. Having an advertisable HP number is nearly meaningless simply by having the LS7. The ZL1 needed a bigger number to compete wth the GT500 and as it turned out they were right to do so. I'd be shocked if you saw more than the current certified 505 for the LS7.

I'm guessing they are "estimating" a 5 hp loss due to the different exhaust. The LS7 makes 505hp in the Z06.

GM's policy is to use SAE certified numbers only. So they can't advertise more than it makes. But it would be ok if it really made more. Refer to the 3.6L history. They used the certified CTS number until they re certified.

Z06's repeatedly see 460-470 on the dyno stock... that's about 550 on the fly.
for $60K, this needs to be the engine code:

I'm not 100% on how the test works, but as I understand it you have a window (no more than a couple percent) that you can pick your advertised power from. I imagine that the LS7 was rated as conservatively as possible with the SAE test procedure, since I'm pretty sure it was the first engine that was certified with that procedure. If all that is true (which it might not be), they would have enough leeway to rate it at 515 or so without having to actually recertify it. I don't know if SAE allows such a thing to happen, but it is a potential loophole they could exploit.
