Maybe mode 5 lets it roll easier? I'm not too technical, but you get my drift! The electronic controls (modes) must have some impact on cruising MPG. Any GM engineers might have some insight on that?

EDIT: MORE MORE MORE MORE!!! WE WANT MORE STORIES!!
PTM, like the rest of the traction control systems - doesn't do anything unless it predicts the vehicle will lose control. Cruising at 55-65 on the highway doesn't fit those parameters.

The BIGGEST factor in fuel economy, for any car, is how you drive it.

In various settings, for about 30 miles or so around many corners and stop lights, averaging maybe 30mph...I was able to achieve 19.5 mpg at VIR. But that car had over 600 miles on it.

With a highway rating of 19 - I'm positive under the right conditions you can squeeze 20 out of it. But like tooslow said...fuel economy isn't exactly one of the "highlights" of the car....

I totally concur! If you bought this beast for MPG numbers, you are doing things wrong...lol.

I would be lying if I said that MPG meant nothing to me.
Not the selling point of the car to be sure but if I can't afford to drive it....

With my motorcycles I can honestly say I don't care but they aren't my DD.

Well, I do not have my car yet. My order is sitting at event status code 3000 and has been since 1/31. Hope to see some movement very soon.

I am truly fortunate to be in a position to be able to order one of these cars and I was able to substantiate that this evening. C5's one and only Becky D is truly a very special lady and I am glad to have her as a friend. Miss Becky graced me with her keys this evening and allowed me to take a "supervised" drive in her ZL1.

First impressions = WOW, HOLY COW, UNREAL. This car is very fast and just feels perfect. It is worth the wait people. It feels faster than 580hp to me. I'm coming out of a 560hp 2011 SS and this thing is way stronger. I still have a 4 to 6 week wait but it just got a little easier thanks to my good friend...

Was that YOU in the car when I called Becky up?

Glad to hear you like it! I wasn't sure about the feel of the power - but now that you mention it, (with loads of personal butt-dyno experience) I agree it feels more powerful than just 580!

Not bad at all. I only average 19 in my supercharged V6 3800 in my 2000 GTP. It has a pulley kit but I never expected to get over 19 in mixed driving and it is only putting out around 275hp. I doubt I will get more than 12 with the ZL1. But that will be fine for the days I drive it.

No, it was not me. There were a couple of us tonight lucky enough to drive it. It was probably one of the others. How cool is she for letting people drive her new car? She is the biggest Camaro enthusiast I know. Becky D Rocks!

My mileage is starting to go up. I got the 11mpg initially just going around town. Now it's at 12.5mpg and I probably did 40mi of highway. I only have 240mi in total. We have to remember that it's a new engine too...If you're just doing highway in 6th gear at 2000rpm, it should get decent. I don't really care much about it - it's the fun, third car.
