Remember that Obama guaranteed the warranties would be honored on 3/30/2009.

U.S. will guarantee GM, Chrysler warranties, Obama says

New GM =/= Old GM. Different companies, that's the basis of this whole thing.

That being said, it's only 400k cars. Just fix the damn thing and get it over with.

My experience with some of the Impalas is that the abnormal tire wear can also be related to the very cheap OEM tire (Goodyear Integrity) that GM put on the car. The sidewall is too soft which results with inner and outer treads wearing very quickly (6k-12k miles). My brothers Stealership just kept selling a new set of tires and alignment every 8-12 months and telling him his car was out of alignment. My brother was upset and asked for my advice. So I researched abnormal tire wear on Impalas and came across the spindle problem. I then did a check of tire reviews at Tirerack.com and found hundreds if not thousands of complaints about the Integrity tire. This was across multiple vehicle lines and manufacturers. I went to the dealership and confronted the manager in front an entire showroom of customers about their ethics and honesty. Replaced the tires with a quality Michelin tire....no more abnormal tire wear. That dealership would have kept selling my brother tires and and alignments for as long as he allowed.

Let's all take a breath for a second.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

Let's try this again.

It sounds like GM is claiming that "Motors Liquidation Company" (Old GM) is responsible for this mess because Motors Liquidation Company build the cars, not GM.

Let's take all the business crap out of this discussion and look at the problem

Wait a minute. Reuters didn't even discuss what was really wrong with these Impalas. They said something caused tire wear, but they didn't ask GM or a mechanic to explain the problem, a solution, or whether other vehicles have been known to have this problem as well. Isn't that interesting? It reads like this whole article is designed to smear GM, and here it is on a pro-GM website. Nobody likes lawyers, and there's a whole bunch of legal junk in there instead of any real explanation of what's happening.

What do I think? I love GM, but GM isn't in the clear for me. I'm no arbitrary fanboy. GM should fix these cars, but they should be fixed for free only if they are under warranty, just like the rest of us. Guess what. 2007-2008 Impalas have a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. My guess is that at this point, when 2012 vehicles are on the streets, that these vehicles are out of warranty.

If there is some mysterious suspension problem that Reuters is too lazy to report, they should at least do their journalistic research. It sounds like they went to a lawyer, asked a bunch of questions about legal procedure and precedent, and ignored why there was a lawsuit at all.

If you're all going to get really angry at someone, try getting more aggressive toward the news media who misrepresented our brand for pure evil.

Supermans posted this topic at 1:18 am, Saturday August 20th, 2011. Less than an hour later, ponbigi posted it again. Then you posted your thread at 1:57 pm, Saturday August 20th, 2011. Therefore YOU reposted it. Perhaps if you had gone to General Automotive & Other Cars for this general automotive discussion about other cars, instead of 5th Gen Camaro SS LS LT General Discussion you would have seen the other thread on the subject and wouldn't have mistakenly thought you were first.

oh, and merged

Hence my comment in one of these threads that the one we should be really scared of is Reuters, lots of misleading journalism there. Although I do admit if there is really a problem GM should fix it, warranty or not.

I think (not certain), that the Police issued Impalas had different rear spindles...ala Heavy Duty Suspension. I won't bother to verify that as I am quite certain any number of the good members in here will do the legwork for me.

If they are different parts, then Joe Schmoe's claims might not have much to it.

I think in this instance where this is a repost of a repost of a repost, maybe we can either talk about something else or go outside and enjoy the day. Better yet go out and enjoy your car. Imo this site is getting a little dull....name my car posts...reposts....yada yada yada. It just seems like 2 years ago when I joined this site things were different. A lot of these posts now seem like people with nothing better to do than sit on their computer all day.

Which begs the question...why are you posting in it simply adding to what you consider drivel?

How about we try and dig a little deeper before going crazy over nothing, hmmmm?

Most importantly (to me anyways...), is the car even under warranty?? And is the problem even legitimate? Lots of people can sue over nothing...one of the hallmarks of our society...
